"Probably straying more in to the Alt genre, but Janes Addiction have some belting tunes See I'm weird in that I love Strays and their latest album but find all the critically acclaimed ones too all over the place and unstructured for its own good. Been caught stealing and stop are tuned though " I've always viewed them as the thinking mans RHCP, they play round with form & instrumentation a little more. Also found Perry's Porno for Pyros side project rather good

"Haha I would have agreed with Bad Brains but over their career they did a couple of absolutely brilliant albums (ROIR and I also like The Quickness) but then went into a very bad space mentally, with a homophobic assault on one of their fans and I believe assaulting fans at their gigs who they thought were nazis because they had shaved heads, and their subsequent albums were/are absolutely dire to the point of being embarrassing. But their early stuff is unparalleled greatness " HR did go through a,strange phase but that was down to his well documented brain tumour Quickness is a brilliant album and yes when they became Soul Brains the quality dipped ...but God of Love is a cracker I had the pleasure of spending time with HR and his wife Lori a couple of years ago, he is still one of my Idols even though he is so frail now
