my Q is what is everyones comfort series?

Brooklyn 99 is mine (and ive watched it a hundred times so I need a new one!)

TIA

I have quite a few. Friends, Impractical Jokers, and Taskmaster. Even if I've seen the episodes multiple times, there's always something that makes me laugh that I would've forgotten

Brooklyn 99, good choice OP. My go to is "I Shouldn't Be Alive" on YouTube. Whether I'm feeling tired, peed off, stressy, happy, chilled - this is my go to. The reconstruction acting's invariably atrocious, but they always survive with a newfound worldview I feel refreshed after watching

I'm fascinated by the place. The colours, the sights, the sounds. I've never been.

I'm huge Rick Stein fan and have a few of his books. I have the book and Dvd of his India series and Spanish one.

I dont think the currys are that good in the book, well not compared to ones I make from another book.

Love Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

It depends on what sort of comfort I need. Early seasons of Supernatural can be quite good. I love It's Always Sunny, like putting on a blanket of comfort and awful human behaviour.

I revisit a few Inside No 9 episodes, one in particular is my absolute favourite of any show the BBC has done lately.

If I'm really need comforting - Doctor Who, the David Tennant regeneration.

I cannot agree that DT is the best. Certainly out of the ‘new’ Doctor Who, but Doctor Who in its entirety from the very beginning the best must be Tom Baker who played the Doctor for 7 years, even DT didn’t manage that

Oh but an episode of Whittaker has one of the most moving (admittedly slightly hammed up) usage of a song in recent TV - that scene where Rise Up plays? The song is beautiful but paired with that scene, I might have cried. A lot of it was utter tosh though. I've got fingers crossed for the new Doctor.

For me it's pretty much any period drama: Cranford, Vanity Fair (the BBC series), Bleak House, Wives and Daughters, Our Mutual Friend, North and South.

Seen them all dozens of times but they are undemanding and I find them immensely comforting old friends in times of stress.

Tom Baker is often lauded as the best but although he is loved, the stories were poor.

As for seven years, McCoy did nine as did McGann. They did not regenerate at the end and it could be argued McGann lasted 17 years as he did the one off in 1996 and his regeneration was in 2013 ( I think)

A few already mentioned are ones we go back to again and again - Taskmaster, Father Ted and Spaced. I'd add the IT Crowd as well for us.

My favourite current hug-in-a-show is The Great Pottery Throwdown. Not sure of the re-watch value but it's just so wholesome.

I revisit a few Inside No 9 episodes, one in particular is my absolute favourite of any show the BBC has done lately.

If I'm really need comforting - Doctor Who, the David Tennant regeneration.

Which one? Him becoming the Doctor or "Not wanting to go"?

Oh... the whole season with him - the tenth doctor is my favourite easily. The storyline with Rose. If I ever have a daughter I'm naming her Rose.

Sorry, I thought you meant just the regeneration scene but I have just watched all of the series (except Whittaker, I just can't) and must agree Tennant is the best by far

What pisses me off about Whittaker is she can act but she was abysmal as doctor. I've been watching Broadchurch and her acting in that is fantastic.

"Grand Designs for me. Never fails to deliver & I have huge admiration for what people go through to achieve their dream home. And of course there is Mr Kevin McCloud …..a classic episode on Chanel Four right now… ) "

This has reminded me of another we watch and watch - 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. David O'Doherty's Grand Designs song was genius.

"Love Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

It depends on what sort of comfort I need. Early seasons of Supernatural can be quite good. I love It's Always Sunny, like putting on a blanket of comfort and awful human behaviour.

Blame it on the director.

I agree, I stopped watching Doctor Who because of her storylines, she is a great actress as seen her in a few things, but her storylines was awful.

My favourite is Tom Baker & The Pyramid of Mars. I’ve met Colin Baker, awful man!
