Feel like you're not made for this world?

For example, everyone seems to drive so fast and I'm happy to plod along at the speed limit...

People seem so loud and I'm softly spoken..

People seem to not give a shit about others...like as if it's it's just them in existence

Life seems about, get a job, get married, get a mortgage, have babies, be like everyone else...it just seems so alien to me at times that I think I belong on another planet

If you consistently compare yourself to other people you will never be happy.

Also remember that what people often project to others isn't the full story.

I feel like mine are different to the majority.

It's not a bad thing. The majority is often mistaken. Be who you are. There are people who will appreciate all the things that make you feel like you're wrong or don't belong

Agree. It's not about complying with some "norm" that others try to create or even impose. You know yourself better than anyone and you set your own standard that you want to follow.

Of course it is. Everyone’s is different to everyone else’s. It’s just a matter of degrees. I mean think about it, I don’t know if you see colours the same way as me, or taste things the same as me. What about the way you were raised and your past experiences? I can pretty much guarantee they were nothing like mine. Of course everyone is different. It’s just some people were raised in a A beige world, with beige expectations and not the slightest interest tin liking at the world with fresh eyes and trying out fresh, new things and they might be happy as Larry with that. Good for them I say. If you feel as different as you say you do, surely you should be happy to not be a sheeple?

I have dissociative identity disorder with at least 6 alters ( I’m not exactly sure how many, as until 2021 I was unaware I had it) and even though i have no memory of the period when one takes over, sometimes. I’ll feel ways about things I have never felt before, or do things I didn’t know I could do and, whilst it was petrifying to begin with, I’ve learned to embrace these new experiences, even though it’s caused me such social isolation, I’m seeing the world differently every day and I’m, obviously, never really completely alone.

It does appear that you maybe are reverting back to your teenage emo years? Maybe take some drama classes, listen to some Mamma Cas, have a joint and find yourself. But mostly just be glad you aren’t beige.

Or if that is all too hard, watch “Everythingi, Everywhere, all at once” and realise that nothing really matters, so you do you and smile. You never know what tomorrow is going to bring.

Agony Uncle out.

Could it be, you are already in your place. Not everyone has to follow the majority, imagine how boring that would be.

Enjoy driving at the speed limit, just think of it as a public service. You are stopping them from getting points and a fine

This life, us, the very planet you walk upon could be a fever dream, time passes but time is a construct of the reality you believe you are living in, your whole life could be contained in a breath or have being started at the birth of the universe.

This world is yours, to do with as you wish, it is a gift. So you do you, and what fills your heart and soul with joy should be the only riches that you seek

Everyone is made for this world. There are no rules to what you have to do. I did all those things you mentioned because I wanted to and it’s given me a very happy life. My best friend did none of those things and she also has a very happy life.

This world is cruel, let’s start with that. I agree with driving speed,I love to take in the scenery what we pass by. Rather drive slow and safe than fast n crash in best scenario..

It all depends what purpose you wanna make for yourself. Do what makes you happy and stop looking at other people what they do. Start caring about yourself first and care less about others. You came in this world alone, poor and you will die exactly the same way. That’s the brutal honesty of life. If you wanna make something out of yourself go and do it,stop complaining what other people do. Each have their own time for kids, house and all other essential stuff.

Personally I was ready at 16 to move out from parents house, live with my husband and have our own life, what I completed. Maybe for you it doesn’t seem much, but for other people it’s a big step in life and they cherish it. Some don’t have family to return to,but they have kids to home to,pets to take care etc. for some it’s all they needed in their life.

When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

I personally that your perspective is one that can be powerful. Belong to another planet as you said, allows you to see things differently, to take a step back and even reflect on them.

Like now, you are wondering if you are made for this world because you don’t see yourself to fit most dominant narratives that are fed onto us. You should use that to question how those dominant discourses arise and which purpose to they serve instead of wondering if you are made for this world or not. Use your outlook to rise and to fall challenge the dominance of the narratives that are making you doubt of yourself.

What are they purpose? Are they true ? Are they necessary? Are they universal?

You have your place here, more than anyone else and you can be the change you’d like to see operate within this world.

I often stand and stare at what’s around me. It’s actually quite nice to be involved in such a complex world, but often I feel that it doesn’t need or want me to be part of it. It’s a weird feeling.

Manchester(ish).

When I gave up trying to be normal and conform to other people's standards and models I became much much happier.

I also study stoicism, it fits with my view of the world and gives me something to align to.

Embrace your differences OP.

Best wishes

Yep. Always. Society has always made it pretty clear I'm not wanted on this planet. An element of performative participation is required simply for daily survival.

We need to hurry up and invent FTL space travel so I can get off this rock and find wherever it was I actually came from.

Be who you are, unapologetically. Don’t care what others think, or how others are.

I spent a lot of years being the life and soul of everything, but it was a front. I’d have been described as loud, but I’m anything but these days.

If we were all the same, we wouldn’t be unique. I have different morals to some, it doesn’t matter.

Own and embrace who you are and what you stand for

If you feel they are different, probably means you've both thought of them and weighed them against... whatever the norm might be, I dunno I haven't checked social media in years, it was pretty crazy last I checked.

But that's a pretty good thing for you to do.

Oh you are so so not alone in the way that you feel, what you describe there is very relatable.

The way I see others go about the world seems alien to me... I feel a great sense of detachment from those around me at times, almost like watching the world through a television screen.

But there are so many others who feel the same, you just tend not to notice them.

I guess it's best not worry about what others are doing, as long as you can be happy within yourself that's all that matters really.

Just keep plodding along and speaking softly
