They lose interest usually or something has been said that they didn't like,or the other person is being pushy and can't take no for an answer.

There can be so many reasons.

Something might come up in their home or work life that interuppts them.

You have to remember that messages should be treated a similar way to a letter or an e-mail and not a live-chat such as a phone call.

Because people aren’t here to have a long conversation unless it’s going somewhere. How do you know they’ve stopped? Maybe they had somewhere to be, like work or an appointment? If they haven’t stopped you from re contacting them, maybe they haven’t stopped. Give them time to get back to you.

I wouldn't just stop messaging, I would usually give a reason. And they all have already been mentioned above, like life happened; don't feel like it's going anywhere/you're just breadcrumbing me and I've got enough; you showed your true colours/said something that raised alarm bells etc.

What is long conversing? I wouldn't be too upset if it was a few weeks. It's not that deep, just getting to know each other and probably discovered you weren't for them. If it was consistent messaging for months, years, then yes that shite is painful. You lose a friend, and without any explanation you must feel like poop. It's a horrible thing to do.
