I had a few big doses of diazepam in hospital years ago due to fitting. I couldn't believe how good I felt when I came round. I felt like I was lay on marshmallows and surrounded by wispy clouds. Very moreish.

I was driving across the desert from Alice springs to Perth with 3 friends , we all took tranquillisers that were legally prescribed to aborigine we’d just met. Apparently I feel asleep and put my head in the lap of the passenger while still driving. The two in back feel asleep while laughing at me then the passenger fell asleep. The land cruiser came to a stop and we all napped in the desert for about 12 hours

Off to sleep in the arms of Morpheus my lad.Just make sure you go for a slash before you go to bed. Or keep a bucket nearby. You won't want to get up to the bathroom.

The gas&air during labour was lovely. Pethedine wasn't much of a blip really.

With the Entonox you can still feel everything but it's just ....way over there.... slightly disconnected and more bearable.

Also, I once had an anti-emetic prescribed for a serious case of norovirus that had a sedative effect too. It was really nice. And made me realise just how easily things can become a habit.

Yes. It’s no wonder they’re addictive.

The joy of this as well is that by the Mir big I’ll have no recollection of tonight and come back to cringe at myself.

I had a dam good go on the gas and air in the delivery room, and it was really rather good. I had to give it a damn good huffing, stopped, then staff came in just as the effects really kicked in. I was just trying to share the birth experience as completely as I could. Honest!

I've had a few experiences of pain killers - while waiting for treatment - where I was still in agony, but I didn't care because of the meds

Tramadol after having an operation to repair a trimalleolar fracture

It felt like I was floating above the bed and something was stroking my face and hair. I kept asking the Nurse to 'get me down, I was stuck' while drifting in and out of sleep.

Yeah, lol, there's a few seconds whilst it gets in your system before it hits you. Then it's all very much 'wee-hee!!!'

Timing is everything

Been there my friend.

And it was as you say just to get as close to the experience as possible.

All for science.

Ga and air is lovely. Next time I'm having it, I'll have my weighted blanket with me, as it can't come soon enough. I asked the colonoscopy staff if they ever got high on the stuff, when the camera was renacting scenes from the Picolax thread.

They never responded...funny that.

AKA Hippy crack The NHS are reviewing entonox to be banned, and it's currently suspended from use in most maternity wards.

It's all over the news as Essex Tom ought to quote. B12 problems are what I heard.

I use melatonin as a sleeper, it encourages your brain to produce sleepyhead stuff naturally.

I use natural supplements now or things that trigger natural processes in my body now.

I didn't once and wow have I paid the price over the years.

Unfortunately, I seem to be quite resistant to alot of sleep meds. I wake every 2 hours & can almost set my clock by it! I've recently had a few better nights using a cheap CBD sleep aid that I bought from Savers! I'm now waking at 4 hours, which is a massive improvement for me

Can you buy melatonin, or do you get in on prescription?
