Were medieval kings and queens all cross eyed.

My nan’s spare room.

Or couldn’t people paint too dots in parallel.

When you look at ancient paintings stained glass windows coins etc the eyes always seem to be going astray.

I suppose it was useful for keeping an eye on your enemies.

I know I have a slight cast in my eye, although I hope if I was a king and having my portrait done they could have done some early antiquity airbrushing.

Have a look at old Scooby Doo cartoons and take note of Daphne's eyes.

If you’re suggesting that questioning the ability of medieval portrait artists is mocking the afflicted, then guilty as charged.

If you’re suggesting that I’m mocking people with less than perfectly parallel pupils, then I refer you to the post when I refer to the cast in my own eye.

I just think it's the style of painting. But do remember that the Renaissance was really the first time people learnt to paint in perspective.

King Harold failed to keep a good eye on his enemies and ended up not being cross-eyed
