Glasgow, which is the Scottish City most famous for the local delicacy,Irn Bru has just voted to be the first feminist city. Every council decision will be made through the eyes of a woman. What's going on here guys and what will the city look like in five years. It is all over the news

This is a town planning thing, intended to counteract the unc*nscious bias in traditional decision making. If all the planning officers are men, they probably aren’t considering female needs fully when making decisions. By putting this in as a line of policy, the Council hopes to make sure the teams always stop and think.

A simple example might be streetlights. They could be way down the list of priorities for funding. Or if you consider that they help women to feel safe walking home alone at night, they might be number one or two on the list instead.

I love this post. And Glasgow but heavily biased.

Yes, sure, it might sound ridiculous. But it could be so beneficial in ways stated above and more, giving priorities to things that might not even be considered.

I really hope it does make a difference and more cities are inspired to take a similar stance.

I was going to make some ridiculous joke about beer prices going up but wine prices coming down but I feel it would be in bad taste now.

I would welcome this kinda thinking I’m so many cities across the Uk as long as it doesn’t also detract from male needs too
