i know i wont get it cheaper because im a female but will i notice a drop when i turn 25?

my renewal for the year is due just 10 days before my bday so wondered if rather than paying out for the year in one go than taking it out monthly and phoning them once im 25 to see if it makes a difference.

Try getting some quotes online - use the same details except your date of birth... do it once aged 24 and once aged 25, and then you'll know if it will make a difference.

Age is one criteria, but there are so many that you may find it doesn;t really make any significant difference.

If you can have your car off the road for the 10 days then I would imagine it would make a big difference don't insure when you are 24 wait till you are 25.

They won't give you it any cheaper if you turn 25 after the start of the policy

A month or a year?

I agree with the comment above. Do the same quotes but change your birthdate and see if it makes a difference.

An EU ruling means insurance companies must end gender discrimination, and female drivers under 40 will be hit hardest. Where claims between the sexes tend to level out after 40 years old, lower than 40 shows a trend of more claims by males than females, yet the insurance practice of offering lower premiums for women has been declared illegal by the EU and women will be picking up the tab for it. Rates for women have increased some 30% whereas rates for males have decreased by a moderate 10% to bring them into line with each other. The ruling came into effect on Dec 21.

It will decrease your excess as you'll no longer have to pay the young persons excess if you have an accident but only if you start your policy after your 25 and I would if you can wait until your birthday to renew because it probably will go down annnnd if you go fully comp a lot of policy's don't allow you to drive other cars if the policy was started before you turned 25

Can u add a parent to your policy ? That may make it cheaper. Mine has gone down by 170 a year due to the fact I moved although still in Aylesbury they class it as a better area

see... that is the headline... but it won't work quite like that...

because they have been told that if you have no driving history you are not allowed to discriminate between men and women...

as soon as you start to drive, you build up a driving history.. so that for example cute has 6 years no claims, they will use that to quote, as the major factor and not her being under 25......

Does your no claims still stand if there is a break in the cover? So if the car is off road and not insured for a few weeks will the no claims carry over?

I found the best way to get cheaper insurance was to get an advanced licence and join an owner's club for the vehicle I own at the time.

I've had escort and sierra cosworths, Nissan skylines and numerous other, high powered cars over the years and never paid over £400pa on any of them (fully comp). Currently my Alfa only costs me £180 fully comp and protected, that being said, I passed at 17 and have never had an accident or made a claim.

I'm feeling rather smug at the minute Yesterday I insured my old 2litre Mk3 Golf gti for £137 fully comp and my old Classic Merc Coupe, fully comp for £160ish for both Kate and me.

you can carry on your insurance even if you dont get insured for up to 3 years , just make sure you let insurance company know you will be doing this

No claims bonus remains valid for a gap of up to 3 years and yes your premiums will go down when you turn 25 some companies will automatically lower the premium most however will not the way to avoid the gap is generally to phone after you turn 25 and make an amendment ie day you're actually going to be doing less miles than originally thought etc and then the change becomes effective again depends on the insurance company

Your occupation will effect your premium find out which are the best and use that they don't check, if you have to claim tell them that you had just lost your job they normally require 48 hrs notification so you would be ok. Also if you know anyone who has a garage say you keep it there overnight, this knocks between 1% and 2% of the total, and you drive less than 6000 miles a year knocks another 2% off

the new eu ruling on car insurance just meens the insurance companies can screw everybody on the premiums not just new young drivers.more and more ppl will drive without insurance becauce of it .the government needs to take the insurance companies to task over the ridicules cost of car insurance its a blatent rip off
