Living on the front line of the battle for survival of the endangered reds, I would say you should.

Things are not going well for Tufty. Five years ago there were no greys here, now they are established. If things carry on as there are there will be no reds in a couple of years.

Sign me up…..but I’d want someone who can cook properly o rustle me up something really tasty with it…because me sticking a stick through its arse out through the mouth and hanging it over a fire pit till it’s charcoal seems a bit unnecessary

everybody should eat them,,, they are nothing but a pest,,, they raid birds nests and bird boxes and kill and eat baby birds plus they eat the acorn nuts when they are skill green and there is nothing for the red squirrels to eat,,

I would choose not to, I think.

I’m not a fan of picking meat off the bone. And there’s not a lot of meat on them to begin with.

It’s a bit like eating slightly more hygienic rats.

I’m not into rabbit either. Similar reasons.

Chateaubriand or go veggie.

Clearly that’s not true. It’s not the fact that greys may eat a lot that is the worry for the Reds, but the fact that they carry Squirrel Pox, they carry it, but if a Red gets it, they die

I did many years ago when working with a team on a forest project. They were humanely trapped and dispatched (not by me!) and cooked in an oil-drum oven. Quite sweet and tasty, but fiddly to skin.

Most pet guinea pigs bite due to neglect. I had guinea pig that had been handled a lot in the pet shop due to being the runt of the litter. It was a lovely pet.

Can I ask where you procure your squirrels from? Is it like wood pigeon over the ordinary pigeon?

Am assuming a squirrel from a rural area would taste better than a squirrel from an inner city or suburban garden??

We get ours straight from the tree as it were. Not sure about town squirrel taste but ours are straight from the woodland

I have eaten a vast range of animals in my travels to some places overseas in crazy places. Can’t see a squirrel being anything different once it’s cooked tbh. Meat is meat at end of day.
