I like the smokey type single malts from the Isle of Islay , Laphroaig and Smokehead are reasonably priced

Kilchoman- machir Bay was one of the nicer ones I've tried, have a look at houseofmalt.co.uk some decent stuff on there if your wanting to try a few

No right answer to this - Balvenie is a great speyside but I’m also fond of some of the less “strip your throat” Islays like Bunnahabhain or Caol Ila. The Bunnahabhain 18 year old is very nice…
