Anyone doing this?

Good or bad results?

If your doing it,any tips for someone looking to start?

Keto diet works in the same way as any other diet, it puts you in a calorie deficit.

All your doing with keto is completely eliminating carbs (which your body needs for energy)

If you enjoy bread, rice, pasta even Weetabix then your better off just counting your calories which you would still need to do on keto

It works as a quick fix but nothing more than that. It's not a diet you can live on for a long period of time so changing your lifestyle is a better option.

Youd be better just doing a calorie deficit.

Anytime I hear anyone on about ketosis, I just think of ketosis breath!

It's just another way of eating.

Some people can stick to it, some can't. I tried and didn't work for me, 4000 calories a day on keto isn't fun.

If you want to lose weight it's one of many ways you can create a calorie deficit.

You really don't have to cut out carbs to drop weight. I can get down to below 15% body fat easily whilst still eating 200g+ of carbs daily.

A much easier and more manageable thing is to cut down on the number of carbs you eat. Substitute cauliflower rice for potato, rice and pasta. Eat 85% cocoa chocolate and almonds as snacks, if you're hungry eat a teaspoon of peanut butter (100% peanuts no sugar or palm oil).

I did in the past when I was early 40s I did the apex predator diet and ate only big chunks of meat on bone with my hands.

On training days I would allow myself 100 cal of simple carbs so as not to pass out.

It’s all nonsense. The number of ‘healthy’ people now with eating disorders far exceeds the ones people traditionally think of as wasting disorders - overeating, bulimia etc.

When you weigh , track and count every single calorie without a specific need like some underlying health condition, and it begins to impact on your relationships and social life , you have ti eat alone and refuse to go out and eat ‘normal’ food - you clearly have an eating disorder , a mental health issue

You can eat good fats and then your body will use that as energy.

Theres no real quick fix that works long term. If you want to lose weight then you need to eat a sensible diet.

eat more whole foods and cut out or down on processed foods.

Cut way down on the snacks and booze.

Everything in moderation.

More excercise is always good for you too but its your diet that counts the most if you want to loose weight and keep it off.

There’s a lot of misinformation on here with regards how keto diets work. I eat a keto diet, I don’t count calories and I don’t go hungry. It’s just a way of getting your body to change the way it gets its energy.

I've done the fasting diet (one meal a day) a few times, but just for short periods as my metabolism is high. And because I like eating too! But when I can fast a bit I always feel great about it. They body says yay, and if you are interest you could potentially lose some weight too.

A lot of scientists I admire favour a combination of the two, ie a keto 'type' low-carb diet and regular fasting (because there are really important things your body doesn't do properly when it's constantly digesting), along with 30 different food types a week now, which is better than the often difficult - especially in one meal(!) - 5 'portions' a day, which theoretically could be the same vegetables day after day. Variety is the key.

Obviously cut out trans fats, endless sugars and highly processed food. And ask shops if they'll sell you grey bacon too - it's that artificial pinkness that is particularly bad about it!

Hot tip - dark chocolate. Develop a taste for it and it won't look so ludicrously expensive or fancy pants. It's something you can enjoy without stuffing back too.

Ps. Nobody is saying we aren't allowed to enjoy ourselves any more btw!
