So if anyone has come across my profile, you'll notice I don't show my face for the most part unless you are a friend, mainly down to confidentiality and anonymity, but I want to ask around, does it matter if you want to show your face publicly on Fab or would you rather be anonymous to save face?

The issue is that some people do like to share other peoples facepics in chatgroups etc. They use them as currency.

There is also a school of thought that while people are confident having their face in public pics and don't care if anyone sees them, others interpret that as a general laissez-faire attitude towards discretion and are reluctant to meet them.

I've had full-on face pics on here at various times over the years. I haven't at the min purely because I'm not really meeting and because I can't be arsed . I've no issues re privacy because at the end of the day who really cares

Some do some don’t. You can share it with people you want to meet with.

Personally, I don't want the whole world knowing what I do so I won't have public face pictures. I've received messages from people in the past I know in the real world so it's a good job I haven't got any face pictures.

Do whatever you're comfortable with, everyone's fab journey is different.

- I'll add that I'm quite laidback when it comes to face pics as I don't have Facebook etc, got rid a few years back. I appreciate it can be quite different for people that have a notable online presence across social media(s)

This is the reason I don't have face pics on public, really hate the thought of being recognized or approached by someone from fab while out and about. I do have face pics in friends only and I will send them if I'm chatting to someone and there is an interest on both sides. Its entirely up to you how you run your profile though OP, do whatever you are most comfortable with.

I just think how I’d feel if a pic off here was published. If my face isn’t in it, or any recognisable marks who cares? If my face is but nothing else ok. But having a naked face pic is a real hostage to fortune in my mind so I save that for private sending, if asked and I trust who I’m sending it to.

I dont have any face pics on here at all and rarely if ever send one. I only did when I was cast iron going to meet someone. I like this being a private thing for me and I am not much into shouting about my life elsewhere so dont feel a need here either.

There can be many genuine reasons why people have to be discrete with face pics, work, family, personal reasons. Unfortunately some people dont believe these and will possibly judge you for it but there are plenty who will accept it. You have to do what's right for you and if it means some people won't give you the time of day I wouldn't worry too much about it as there's plenty of people who will.

As many have said, OP, it’s your profile and your choice. Many don’t show face pics, some do.

I’m someone who does because there aren’t really any personal consequences. My family is tiny and wouldn’t care, the friends I care about know the basic details of what I do, I’m not in a relationship and if someone approached me in public - whilst they would get very short shrift for doing so - it wouldn’t cause me any issues.

I suppose the only downside for me would be someone perceiving me as having no discretion. I am very discreet and would never share names or pictures with anyone else, on fab or not. But it’s entirely up to them whether they choose to have faith in me.

Quite understandably, people recognise that once something is on the internet, you have lost all control of it. Again, not an issue for me, but it would be for many.

I wouldn't put up a face pic, but I'd always show it in private and expect to see theirs to consider meeting. There's no particular right or wrong way to do Fab, just suit yourself. Although I'd caveat that with you'd need to accept it'll lower your chances of meeting if you don't even show by private message.

I used to show full face pics , I was self employed and didn’t care if I was recognised…and I was on occasions . I don’t have children and my close family and friends knows …

I’m now employed, in a managerial role, working with young people in a night club , an alcohol fuelled environment and I frankly don’t need the gossips and don’t want my young colleagues or for their parents to feel uncomfortable regarding their working alongside a “depraved pervert”

I feel it would bring disrepute and be an unnecessary distraction.

yeah I get that totally so understand why the majority on here don't show face pic on show, my profile is pretty dam bland boring and nothing to raunchy but I suppose if it was proper let's say spicy maybe I wouldn't have it on public view lol

My boss says as long as I don't fly the company flag in my pictures, I can do what I like in my own time, but if I definitely want to keep HR off my back I should probably avoid my name and face being public. So that's what I do.

I'm not a particularly discreet person, I just like my job and don't want to be fired for bringing the company under ill repute or whatever

I've had very well verified fabbers contact my verifications asking for my real name and a facepic.

I've had minor disagreements with women on the forums and been sent their facepic and real name by a third party in case I needed ammunition.

I've been told at socials that people recognised me from my pics in the presocial chatgroup despite the fact I'd never been in the group and have never shared a facepic in any chatgroup.

That's what they do with them.

Why they do it I can't possibly say but they do.

If not sharing my pic with someone on here means we don't meet I'm good with that.

Exactly this point. Which is why my face pic is on view and I’m off an age where really how I live my life is no one else’s business and I dont give a shit! I have been open and honest with my family about my lifestyle and they are okay with it .

As long as you are happy with how you use the site either by showing yourself off or hiding away that is your choice. Personally we have face pics that we do send once we have been chatting to someone/ a couple and get to know them a bit better and if anyone knows us on here then if they decide to out us that's there choice but they would out themselves in the process so we don't hide who we are but we don't shout it out to everyone

To maintain anonymity, we never show/exchange face pics with anyone. Therefore we don't ever ask for them either. This hasn't caused any issues for us as we only ever meet for a social in the first instance.

As I said… all a bit sad and childish. Someone has sent you a picture of another site user as ammunition because of something said in the forums. Ha ha this is like having a chat with one of my teenagers.

It’s also just a face pic and a name. We have loads of them splattered all over the internet I imagine.

If your a single carefree m / f it's slightly different. Ie the only person some scroat could possibly hurt is you.

If your a family person with kids to think about, or a high profile job. It's different. There are those twats that will try to twist things to their own means.

At the end of the day it comes down to what your comfortable with showing in here.

We have one face pic in our personal pics could share many but we choose not to.

Sadly, that's not necessarily true. Unless you chose not to, our profiles can be searched for through any regular browser. Not sure how much the non-members could see though.

Answering the OP- there are still jobs out there that do not appreciate "online presence", particularly on this kind of sites.

We don’t share face pics as a rule. I have sent a couple if we’re going to meet as unless I’m turning up in my underwear like I am in the profile pics people won’t know who I am

I was a bit freer with the face pics to start with but have learnt to be way more cautious.

If people are insistent on face pics and you’re not comfortable enough with them to send them then don’t. If they want to stop chatting because of that then it’s probably for the best and their loss xx

We don't usually have ours public but don't mind on occasions (like tonight) showing ourselves once in a while. Let's be honest if someone steels our face pics for a fake profile either on here or another app then it's only ever going to end bad if they have to meet in person each to there own

Lack of face pics puts us off a profile. We are open and our friends/ family know what we are like. We get recognised in pubs and out and about occasionally. But in the 9 years we have been on and off here it’s never been a problem. We have seen a lot of our photos being used on other profiles and different websites. We do keep meaning to watermark them but always forget

There are no direct face-pics on our profile, but there are ones with the Missus wearing cat-masks and that sort of thing. There are others where her eyes are closed, but never the lot.

We live on an island where everyone knows everybody else's business (even if you don't know them!) so being cautious and not just plonking your face on the profile are necessary precautions for a quiet life.

Others may not be particularly concerned about peoples reactions to them, but what about family, children, friends and work colleagues? Is it fair that your choices and lifestyles might result in negative behaviour and/or sentiments to them, due to your lifestyle choices?

Isn't that a bit selfish not to be concerned about the impact on others?

I've never fully shown a face pic but at one time I had an unclear one and somehow was still recognised

It did cause me some bother for a while. Now, I keep face pics private until it's time to exchange them.

However, picture taking / poses would be a lot easier if I was a little braver about it.

If you're worried about being 'outed', just remember that anyone 'outing' you to family / firends / colleagues will be outing themselves at the same time

Except some people are more open about being on here and are happy for people to know so when they out others they have nothing to lose personally.

Why would anyone want to share your face pic with others. What do they do with them? It’s a picture of a face out of context with anything else. It all seems a little sad to be honest!

Knowing what people look like is important to us and we don’t engage with others who refuse to send a face pic. We totally respect their privacy and choices but it’s just a rule for us.

You are incredibly naïve.

I'm wary of people with public face pics as they don't care about their own privacy and therefore likely don't care about anyone else's.

I’ve stuck mine public a few times, and I will again probably. On fab or social media, it is important to me to show my face (behind a profile) hopefully people see that it’s a real human being that they are ranting at.

Personally speaking I'm not looking to have sex with everyone I chat to on here so physical attraction from the off is irrelevant.

I don't meet without at least one social so if I've been chatting for a while and there is enough interest from both of us to meet socially then I may share a pic at that point if they ask for one. That's only so we will recognise each other the following day.

I approach every social meet as exactly that and if there is no attraction then no harm done and I've had a nice chat for an hour or so.

It's never time wasted because by the time it gets to that we've already established that we have something in common even if it's not sexual attraction.

I've never had a no show in six years so it works for me and I'm not changing it.

Face pics can be filtered/altered/be out of date and so on. Only socials indicate if there's any real rapport and/or attraction, I've found

Mine and the wifes first couples profile had our face pics on show for all to see, it wasn't long before a screen shot of it was going around all the local pubs, so for me I'm keeping the face pics hidden

I took my face pics down from open display following a nasty episode with somebody awful here.

I have face pics on my friends photos, and send them in PM if planning to meet somebody new (after chats)

I live in a small town mentality area where the lifestyle is not very acceptable so taking some level of care about it seems to make sense to me.
