Cloud 8

I once saw a huge house on rightmove that had a full three-piece suite in every single room, including the kitchen, all bedrooms and the pool house!

Central

I'd be concerned about cleanliness, especially in a loo for men, if they had such setups

Yes, they look quite out of place

Yep. Last month in the hotel we went to for a meal after a family funeral. The toilets were in the basement with a ridiculously low ceiling. Some very comfy looking armchairs were there right by the toilets. All rather odd

Yes, happens a lot in older hotels where the toilets in the public areas would have sofas and dressing tables with stools.

I find it quite endearing and try to remember that toilet plumes tend not travel more than 15 feet so they probably aren't at all covered in 50 years worth of fecal particulate

"Sofas in the pissing and shitting room? What sorcery is this?! "

Better than shitting in the sofa room.

Well, according to the staff at DFS as they were manhandling me out of the store.

It's so you can have a lie down when the room is spinning and you have just become reacquainted with the 3-4-1 shots

I imagine it being used for that purpose many times in spoons

Covent Garden

Yes, quite often. They are a symbol from a by-gone era, known as a "comfort station". The use for this type of couch is for a lady to take a moment of respite, gather and recompose oneself.

More recently they are 'used' to, say, fix an item of clothing or make an adjustment without having to lean/sit on the toilet...which is generally regarded as unhygienic.

I mean, if you're wearing an Oscar de la Renta dress, the last thing you want is to plonk yourself on the toilet as you fix your hem or whatever...

.

Yes In beautiful hotel bar toilets. The bathroom of the place I stayed this weekend was so beautiful and had an emerald green chaise longue and I was sorely tempted to ask the boyfriend to sneak in and take a photo of me on it.
