Winked at then blocked ?

I got winked at this morning, I returned the favour and sent a complimenty message to the lady. She replied saying nice things etc, I then tried to reply to discover I'd been blocked!

How bizarre? Trying to understand why she contacted me in the first place. Has this happened to any of you and did you find out why ?

You will never find out, why do you need to know?

Don’t let this bother you, it’s rarely ever anything personal.

I'm guessing she was maybe interested at first but then she either got talking to someone else or lost interest in your convo and instead of telling you or not replying, sometimes people find it just easier to block. Out of sight and out of mind. It's happened me plenty of times and I'm guilty of it too.

So yeah it's normal, don't take it personally

Not really strange, you learn to grow thick skin on here.

Being blocked happens to is all. Don’t try to understand why as it will end up messing with your head even more.

It’s happened, move on and go make yourself a cup of tea.

It sometimes doesn't even get to the chat.

Some people like to wink as a nudge to tell you they've just blocked you

That's just so rude!

If that's the case I'm heartbroken

No I definitely wouldn't go looking for closure, it's a fruitless exercise and "why" is probably the most frustrating question for people on here.

I'd just pop on a private note, so if they recontacted me in the future I know what happened

I was talking to a lady, wishing her every success for her up coming interview for a job. It was my intention to offer her a job if she was unsuccessful. She replied thank you so much, very kind and blocked me, before I could let her know. O well her loss. Shit happens, especially on here.

Very odd, even creepy to offer her a job. I’d block too and it’s not her loss, quite frankly the opposite.

It wasn’t just me wondering what type of “work” he was planning on offering to a pretty stranger then?!

I didn’t offer her one. Try reading what I wrote. She blocked me before I could let her know. Ffs.

Working from home, taking calls and basic invoicing. So she could tend to her aging mum. £35k. Nothing pervert or underhanded or benefits required. You sick lot. There are still some decent guys around no matter how you judge them.

Embrace your block OP, wear it proudly as a badge of honour.

I have many badges, my lapel is starting to sag under the weight.

Consider the possibility that her account may have been suspended by admin rather than her blocking you.

As long as that’s the only thing that’s sagging you’ll be fine

could be anything maybe she'd seen a comment you made here so she winked then realised she lived other end of country, could be the subject of your message, could be nerves, could be she slipped her laptop was falling to the floor she caught it but pressed the block button accidentally, just move on you'll never know

It's frustrating when that happens.

Could it be that the person replied nicely with no intention of taking things any further, so blocked immediately afterwards so you know where you stand? Women are always being criticised on here for not replying, perhaps she thought she was doing right.

What about when the woman makes first contact sometimes by winking but often by messaging while also fabbing lots of pics?

You then reply in kind and either never hear from them again or get blocked?

Or those who message out of the blue to say they are looking forward to meeting you at an upcoming social and then on the night completely blank you and refuse to even say hello?

Following that up with another message the next day asking why I didn't say hello and that they hadn't seen me despite sitting at the next table and also being introduced by others.

It's a difficult one to answer without knowing their endgame but at times it does indeed feel exactly like that where some people are concerned. A game!

He did indeed. He then sent a message to which the woman replied but also blocked him.

I don't know or wish to know what either of them said but the message is clear, she wants no further contact.
