I don't get overly concerned about it tbh, just put it down to folks autocorrect/spellchecker having a bizarre mind of its own like mine often does. Often type out a word only to notice later it's been changed to something that more often than not isn't even a word. My big fingers on a wee phone screen don't help matters either of course.

Nope! Not just you, it’s massively declined. I understand people are living with dyslexia, so spelling doesn’t really bother me too much, it’s text speak that irks me.

As has been observed upthread, there are many valid reasons for why people write like they do.

However, I'm forced to agree with OP – I've observed a noticeable deterioration in general spelling and grammar in the years that I've been working professionally other people's words.

Either those valid reasons discussed above are contagious, or there's something else going on. And no, it's not just auto-co-wrecked errors.

Spelling is a skill along with reading and writing, that not everyone is good at. Much like anything else learned not everyone will reach the same standard for many reasons.

Coming from a family with members who struggle with forms of dyslexia ranging from mild to severe I have come to understand that as long as the written word is legible and comprehensible it's all good

It's communication that's important.

I would expect spelling etc errors on Fab profiles. It's a site where many people will be typing with sticky fingers or one handed.

Quick get the words down so I can fuck!!!

In work it's more noticeable.

I think it's not considered as important as in the olden days when I was at school. As long as the intent is there and understandable then...
