This house I dont own either apparently. One set of neighbours think they own the left, the other the right so that leaves me fenceless

My deed plans show that I am responsible for the fence on the right whilst facing the house, and as the garden backs on to a service road I am responsible for the back fence.

In my line of work it usually, but not always, goes,

If the hedge is your side of the ditch , it’s your hedge and ditch but if the hedge is your neighbours side of the ditch then it’s his hedge and ditch.
