closer than you think

has never hurt so much!!!

I've been struck down with a nasty cold virus and one of the symptoms is a throat that is red raw and it feels like I'm swallowing razor blades!!

Doctor has told me that antibiotics won't help so sat here sipping a lemsip very slowly in the hope it might ease

Had that for a couple of weeks too. I put it down to a cheap pack of cigs I bought just before Xmas but maybe it was a bug. Siren had a bad bug just before Xmas so maybe I caught it from her. Still got a cough now.

Hot drinks as hot as you can bear do help.

But one of the bugs currently doing the rounds does come with a horrendous sore throat.

im on some honey n glycerine linctus stuff. I normally kind of dismiss these type of things and just ride out the symptoms rather than run for medication but last night i was close to tears so took a trip to the supermarket.

Called up the Dr's a minute ago and apparently its just a bug and antibiotics wont work so pointless making an appointment as i cant be prescribed anything..

Looks like a few local people have it

Just had/got it too! Fortunately the 'broken glass' throat finally went yesterday but still got cough and blocked nose!

My new bedtime recipe: Lemsip, additional honey, whisky, hot water, 2 paracetemol.

Strepsets are what you need stronger than strepsils or meracaine if you can find it. He had this the other week and so kinda tried to get meracaine but was given Strepsets he said they were a god send. Get well soon.

You should be careful taking paracetamol with lemsip as there is paracetamol in lemsip

Was thinking the same, you are effectively, doubling the dose

Just woken up after managing 5 hours sleep throat just as bad

Shouldn't say it's nice that others are suffering but it's comforting to know that I'm not the only one (even that sounds bad!)

I'm on day 7 now - keep hoping that things will improve but can't see any light in that tunnel yet!

Thanks for the advice and tips and big germy hugs (don't say I don't share hehe)

The Town by The Cross

Gargle several times a day with a salt solution.

Not too salty but salty enough to taste.

Bacteria hate it. It's antiseptic. Virtually free and works.

I can't believe that i'm the first male to offer a hot linctus straight from the gun to help coat these sore throats and relieve the symptoms.

Well Granny, the hot linctus that i'm offering is probably not the same as any that you might be able to offer.

You should not take Paracetamol AND Lemsip as Lemsip has Paracetamol in it. Lemsip with Manuka honey+15 does a great job.

Gargle with dissolvable paracetemol, only thing that will really help and take ibruprofen as well.

Day 9 and maybe there is some light at the end of the tunnel!!

Throat not as bad but seem to have developed a "fear" of swallowing if that makes sense? Keep taking tiny sips and holding it in my mouth (could be quite kinky if I wasn't feeling so crap!)

Whatever this virus is I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy! Commiserations to anyone who is suffering
