Very sad to hear that Bruce Willis is suffering from a pretty rare form of dementia. He's very young to have this condition

Knowing how my Dad is slowly losing his faculties in his 80s, it seems even more cruel that it's happening to someone in their 60s.

I hope they have been able to discuss with him about making the information public and have his consent.

At the social group I go to there is a guy of 34 that has dementia. He's had it a couple of years. He had a partner and a little girl and now he lives in a care home as he's to bad to live in the family home. It's so sad to see

I was about to say this, but I assume the laws regarding capacity are different in the states.

It's such a difficult condition for families to process and live with as well as the person living with it.

I Remember there was a girl on tv a few years ago, I think she was 9yo, and she had it.

Oh no, that's terrible! Makes me think of that programme "help" with Stephen Graham, he played a young guy who had dementia

It's bad enough with my Dad, who will be 84 this year. I can't imagine the impact on the person and their family so young

I work with a lot of dementia patients & their families. It is terribly sad & difficult. I’ve worked with a number of early onset patients & it’s particularly heart wrenching.

Frontotemporal generally affects younger people and is common in those under 60 living with dementia.

Early onset dementia is particularly cruel. My dad was first diagnosed in his late 50's.

It's something I'm acutely aware of and I'll be getting thoroughly checked the second I hit 55. There's no way in hell I'd put my family through what we went through with my dad, especially given the current state of healthcare in the UK.

Lost my grandad to dementia but at least he was 90, and had lived a good long life.

The worst part, other than watching him slowly disappear, was watching the toll it took on my gran. She never really recovered

This exactly

My dad had a massive bleed on the brain in 2017. As a result he got vascular dementia.

The dad i knew and loved was gone in the blink of an eye.

He finally passed May last year.

And as you say, the toll it took on my mum.

They'd been together for 75yrs.

I lost both parents to this - dad knew us and responded well , but short term memory was non existent. Mum had vascular , she didn’t know who we were at all . It was awful .

But she was in a really good care home . And was always happy
