34 game ban and a £3.5m fine if you use Sepp Blatters logic

"?"

He booted the ball and walked off the pitch due to racist chants. Closely followed by his team mates.

All well and good, but would he have done the same thing in a Serie A match? This was a non-competitive game between AC and a lower division team (I'm reluctant to use the word 'friendly').

Thats the thing. Putting aside the reason behind it it's never gonna happen in atop class game. Someones gonna forfeit a match, and that isn't going to happen

If an opposing team feels they have to walk due to abuse shouldn't the offending team/fans be the ones penalized?

Just read that BOTH sets of players and the match officals joined him in walking off. After the announcer had tried to get the home fans to cease the abuse. Very surprising but the right thing no doubt.

I would imagine any punishment would only be retrospective. If a player walks off the pitch during a game they'll just put a sub on. If a team walk off, they're forfeiting the match, there's no other way of looking at it. A ref could halt play for an announcement but no ref is gonna call a game off. If 100 fans out of 50000 home fans shout any kind of abuse how is that the clubs fault? If away fans shout abuse how are their Club supposed to be in control of that? Points deductions? relegation battles would be interesting. 100 Reading fans in QPR tops doing their utmost to stay up.

Bottom line is,it's not a football problem it's a social problem.

Newcastle and Gateshead

I am glad that somebody finally did it.....

now i am waiting on someone to do it in a match that UEFA has control off to see how it is handled.......

first the refs will have to take the players off the pitch......

if not, then it has to be the players because uefa are not going to deal with the backlash
