.

Just been listening to Magic Radio and they played a song by Gary Pucket and the Union Gap called Woman, a song about a woman cheating on her husband.

After this was played, the DJ came on and said that he had played that song cos a guy had requested a song called Young Girl by the same group, that he thought was totally inappropriate in the current climate. I know the song, hell I have it on vinyl and also on CD in a 60s compilation CD. The song relates to a guy who meets a girl who he doesn't realise is younger than he thinks.

I apologise to the younger members of Fab who may not know the song. Google the lyrics.

My point in the 60s, 70s and 80s songs were banned at the time as being smutty, sexual and not worthy of being played on the radio, which now are played no problem. But how many songs from then are now not going to be played for the same reason.

Oops thank God it's Thursday and I can rant

I must admit revisiting the lyrics of that particular song does raise an eyebrow….

I love that song 'Young girl'.

I guess some of the biggest names in rock music must now be cringing at the lyrical content of some of their songs...

Rolling Stones

Aerosmith

Eric Clapton

Motorhead

ZZ Top

The Doors

Frank Zappa

Lynrd Skynyrd

Wishbone Ash

Ted Nugent

Have all wrote explicitly jailbait lyrics….

They'll do stupid things like that but for 40 years Lou's walk on the wild side appeared to go right over the BBC's head
