Male contraceptive pill

So there's a story on bbc news (prob elsewhere as well) about a new male contraceptive pill that apparently if you take it 1hr before sex, then it stops your 'swimmers' from 'swimmimg'.... Thoughts on this?.... Alternative to people worried about getting the snip?

Only a hour before?

Well not really a long term solution then.

Pretty pointless by the sound of things. Probably only any good for couples in a commited relationship.

in theory a male pill is a good idea but a hour before sex isnt a good idea should be taken like the combined /mini pill every day reg time

Personally I've never taken viagra so not sure how long it takes to take effect or (potentially) how long it lasts... Is it similar in terms of you have a time limit?.... Could this pill be good for people that attend clubs but prefer bare back?

"Why is this in the virus forum "

To be honest I was going to put this in general chat forum but although this forum is named 'virus' I noticed it covers various medical related topics... If that makes sense? Maybe I should have put this in different forum?

Best comment!!

I'm just glad I had the snip. Not sure why people worry about it. So glad I had that done!

I'd assume the man was lying so he could fuck bareback. Not his problem if the woman gets pregnant.

Even if this was a thing still only a good idea if in a committed relationship. Yes it will prevent the risk of pregnancy but still risk of sti’s.

Me too. I'd only ever trust a long term partner who I could actually see take the tablets

I've always found it odd that a man would want to get someone pregnant (that isn't his wife, girlfriend etc)

If you're swinging or just shagging around, the LAST thing I'd do is lie and end up with a baby.

Some have a breeding kink I guess, but that's one expensive fucking kink!

I'd happily take a male contraceptive pill as long as it didn't mess with my hormone levels... Unless it messes with them in a good way like bumping up my testosterone

"Unless it messes with them in a good way like bumping up my testosterone "

If it did then blokes would use it as a cheaper TRT/PED anyway.

Personally I'm nudging 40 and have contemplated the snip and freezing my swimmers for a few years. Have one son and may like more if I met a younger lady who felt the same but thats decreasing year on year.

I'm pretty sure the female contraceptive pill hormones kill sex drive and fuck with our soul. So the male contraceptive pill should do that too.

The last male contraceptive i read about was testosterone based which is a really bad idea. Wich could result in shutting diwn your hpt axis and could lead to life long dependancy on testosterone supplimentation which is very much a lottery on the nhs and many (including myself are forced to go private)

Surely anything, even something that is short term, is a start?

They have a working idea; time and further research could see something more long term/on par with female pill

Out of interest, what are your views on your female partners taking contraceptive pills that mess with their hormone levels? Because that's what every single non-barrier method of contraception does to women, usually with various side effects (varying from the tolerable to the horrific).

But it's fine to bugger about with ladies oestrogen and progesterone? Contraceptives containing female hormones cause significant morbidity to women around the world.

"Why is this in the virus forum "

Probably as the pill kils the sperm and you get an injection of dead sperms.

Hence an hour before.

Not in agreement wit the pill hence I had the snip 24 years ago leaving me with my now second epididymal cyst (testicular cyst). Will need to go private to have it removed as told its non elective surgery.

I never said that either. Condoms work fine and ive had the snip.

Hormones should not be messed with, imbalanced hormone levels are a large cause of mental health problems. I know for a fact my mental health has improved drastically simce starting testosterone replacement therepy.
