No, the kids & I shall have a love in and splurge in some way.

Even when married I didn't do valentines beyond a treat steak dinner with all the trimmings at home.

I wouldn't enjoy paying inflated prices to go out. I can't abide being price gouged

Being dateless on Valentines night isn't the end of the World , l did valentine's once upon a time , trying l suppose , you know , maybe in vain but then you realize it's not returned so you stop , tough when it first happens but you grow used to it and then comes a stage when you don't even think about it , so to the dateless people out there just remember it's not the end of the World .

But things typically work in cycles so perhaps coupledom will become desirable once more and people will be less like little puppies bouncing around chasing easy D & V all over the show.

I'm with the same someone this year as I was last VD, and he's made it unexpectedly special both times. I hated VD in previous relationships for the fakeness etc as well. But this time it's different...in a good way

The way I grew up nothing was ever special.

So now I make an effort on those "commercialized" celebration days because my default is just to be a workaholic until my brain and body crash and burn out.

If I'm with someone in a committed life partnership, they better make it special or I will be going to make it special by myself.

that's what happened in my marriage. My former husband didn't make any attempt to my birthday so I buggered off to the spa for the whole day alone. Obviously he thought I was cheating but I didn't give a fuck. I wanted to be treated special so I did it myself.

That's my current view I'm not going to wait around for people who don't know how to celebrate life. i'ma celebrate every chance I get and squeeze as much out of life as I can until the glorious end.

I will be the one telling dirty jokes in the nursing home, pinching the male nurses' bottoms and winding up the other residents and sneaking in cakes.

Everyone else who wants to go quietly into the night before they shuffle off this mortal coil, that's their prerogative but it certainly isn't going to be me.

Yeah forgot to say happy birthday...Now you need triple drinks. One for your self love, one for Vally day and one for your birthday.

I'm currently on the passion fruit martini. Co au vin, Roquefort tart in my tummy and there is some Heston tart in the fridge about to go into the tummy too!

Repeat tomorrow.

For my birthday I usually celebrate a whole week minimum these days.

You see I forget. I spend so much time looking after my physical and mental health and caring that it's way too easy for me to forget the little things.

Being a neurodivergent from 2 workaholic parents doesn't help matters either.

This "just a date in the calendar" actually reminds me "hey you fucking celebrate life! and stop over fucking working and actually go fuck yourself or fuck someone else for a change." Lol!

It's a reminder that human beings need fun, joy, pleasure, intimacy and connection.

dunno maybe it's a London thing....we are obsessed with being busy and being workaholics and a lot of neurodivergents live here too.
