It's a matter of time before a Premier League player is "exposed" either by media or a jealous ex, former colleague etc etc.

The law of averages says there is will be a number of gay players at least in the Premier League.

Unfortunately I don't see it being very well accepted by the football crowds. The governing bodies will try their best but the terraces or stands will not be as forgiving.

I would hope it would be a minority. But yeah they’ll be the loudest. "

The majority will be those that say "we don't care just kick the fucking ball". Remaining will be empathetic towards the players, they will certainly be a minority.

I kind of just said it above but I'll say it again rephrased I guess since it's more relevant.

I don't think it's a case of not accepted by the majority, most fans don't actually care gay or straight they just don't want to hear about it. Very much a case of "shut up and kick the ball, we don't care".

As usual it's the media that stir it up. In the case of coming out though, I do think it's important to push that it is normalised and give courage to others to not hide.

No one should have to come out in 2023. It’s ridiculous. But still necessary and especially in positions of influence.

A wealthy footballer can shield himself from the worst behaviour, but he is also giving a little bit of confidence to gay kids in their homes watching football with parents, mates. That it’s ok. And that’s important. Just a shame they won’t have the safety he has.

Whilst it definitely exists, I do think biphobia is overstated on here for thread bating.

A simple case of heterosexuality meaning zero attraction is less of a headline than pushing a hate agenda.

I would agree.

I feel strongly that people should have control over their coming out.

The only thing that would be an issue with keeping it hidden is if they were to see a profile that says the person is only looking straight / straight and still pursues a connection knowing they themselves aren't straight.

It's all these grey areas where people need to act with integrity and perhaps won't to get the meet.
