Hi everyone

Not been rhe best of shapes mentally recently, no suicide thoughts or anything like that. Mainly full of anxiety and confidence issues as I lost my job a few weeks back and it's really knocked me back quite hard. Also I have a lot of personal family issues going on.

I was just wondering if anyone knows somewhere I can get free Dvice/therapy/counselling through text or email. I've not got the confidence to talk face to face or video chat.

Any help would be appreciated. Answer here or DM please

Might be a long referral/waiting process.

Search for the likes of 'Mind' and other similar organisations.

They have lots of professional guidance on how to access supports.

Your gp is usually the first step though.

But there are lots of alternatives.

As tough as it ever gets, there is always another day and another step to take to find better things for yourself.

Sometimes a step backwards can bring good things in unexpected ways. Changing direction or pausing is often a good thing long term.

Keep believing in better things for yourself and work towards it tiny step by tiny step and you'll get there in time x

For short term immediate help phone the Samaritans. They will be extremely helpful to you, and can recommend/refer you to mental health teams in your area. There's nothing wrong at all in asking for help, it's a very brave step. Wish you all the best. Happy to chat anytime via pm if you want or need to at any time.

I really few for you, I don't know where you are but in Hampshire/Dorset I am under a service called Steps to Wellbeing who offer support and cognitive behavioural therapy... I've used them before and found it helpful...

Mind are also a good source of information.. I wish you well..my mental health is pretty poor at the moment

Getting professional help is absolutely the right thing.

I was talking to a therapist friend recently , she was saying it’s looking extremely positive going forward , this generation is finally breaking many generations problems of not seeking therapy , which has simply resulted in the problems being passed down through generations and made worse.

It’s not just social media, it’s parents and grandparents and society’s attitude that you need to be strong & get on with life, have a relaxing bath a bit of self care and talk to friends - it’s often the worst kind of advice for you and future generations it doesn’t work if you are Ill, and you pass it down to your kids.
