Don't care really, don't have any interest in media darlings seeking attention for attentions sake. But that's the game, no? Talk about the outfit or the pronouns rather than the standard of works they're producing.

I lost respect when it was reported that they were demanding/forcing everyone around them to declare and display their own pronouns too.

If it's true, that's a step too far and totally wrong.

It would potentially either publically out a person or force them to deny their identity over and over, causing them untold additional misery.

I never saw a retraction or denial of the news articles but perhaps it was reversed later if inaccurate.

Come on, this isn't the first time a pop star has worn something a bit unusual (maybe this chicken inspired suit was a nod to Lady Gagas meat dress?).

I'm not sure it's necessarily the first choice of what they would wear day to day (looking at most of the costumes on show at the Brits there are few that are "everyday" clothes, Wet Leg looked the most "normal" IMO) but should we judge their lives based on that one decision?

They did something that might have just been a publicity stunt, which obviously worked as we're all talking about it. If they were wearing it whilst shopping in Waitrose then that would be a different matter I guess!

To be clear, I have absolutely no problem with gay people or people going through their transition to become a man/woman.

Yes

His right to use those pronouns is equal to other peoples' right not to. I don't particularly like the guy. I remember during the worst of lockdown he was whining and sobbing about how difficult it was for him, whilst pictured sat on the steps of his multi-million pound mansion with indoor swimming pool, games room and fitness centre (which he looks like he's forgotten the location of). Just another overly-entitled pop singer imho.

I have no perspective on what it’s like to feel like the pronouns assigned to me at birth aren’t right for me. But do I presume that just because I don’t have that issue, that it doesn’t exist? No, because I understand that not everyone is the same. So I use the pronouns, because I’m a respectful person.

If we all told everyone what we thought about everything all of the time, the world would be a very shitty place.

I assume that reason you have that perspective is because you’re happy with the pronouns people use for you (how you describe them being assigned or not is just semantics - you know what I mean).

But I’m not sure why you think you get to determine how another wants to be addressed? Why is your opinion about them more important than theirs? Im a man, therefore the english language dictates i am referred to in the third person as him or he. These are just the rules of language, and without such rules, language becomes a garbled mess.

Someone can asked to be referred to something else if they want, but refusing to do that isnt the problem. Thats just abiding rules of the english language
