Having enjoyed a few mfm and mfmm (or however you write that when all three guys are straight), I've also endured mfm which was more akin to mf with an audience ! In that case, a simple wank (or even a good book) would have been preferable - so it's not what's on the label that counts, it's what's in the tin.

I have only had two 3somes. The first would have been mfm, but all he did was take photos, so that is probably classed as a mfmjpeg. I never did get the promised copies of the photos or video he took. The second was mfm but was rushed and she was starting her period, so was not as much fun as it could have been.
