It's a quiet one this evening.

I've been busy this evening setting up some fangled •WiFi• devices around the home, speakers, thermostats and whatnots.

How was your day today? Greetings to Lørna too.

I know the point has been made ad infinitum on the socials…and I know I am showing my age…but the LeBron all time points record photo with 98% of people trying to capture the occasion on their phone is the epitome of this. Why do people go to so many occasions (sporting, musical, whatever) just to spend more time trying to get it on their phone to put it on their insta, instead of just immersing themselves in the occasion?! I mean, each to their own, you pay for the ticket, you enjoy it how you like, but are you really enjoying it if you’re waiting for that perfect pic to post on your social media?

I would love to go to the Ryder Cup and even got into the ballot but the tickets were so damn expensive. I will be watching it wall to wall as usual. I love golf. I’m not sure who will win the superbowl this year. Too close to call between the Eagles and the Chiefs tbh.

If I had to pick a team it would be Miami Dolphins but that is purely down to Ace Ventura and “laces out”

Love it though and the half time show will be right up my street as Rihanna is my ultimate crush

Some friends of mine went to Ryder a few years ago and I was a bit jealous but I maintain, with all the matches going on, it’s better watched on TV (with the caveat of being there on the first morning, or the last [winning] afternoon would probably make that a stupid statement).

It’s the Chiefs’ to lose IMO, the NFC isn’t as strong as the AFC, but that means nothing on the day. And I went to Orlando in the early 90s so I’m a child of the Marino generation - fins up!

The things I would do to Rihanna…

Maybe it is an age / what you grew up with thing. But I was at the MCG for Shane Warner’s 600th wicket, and the people who were taking photos had old school cameras, not phones. Everyone else (English or Aussie) was immersed in the occasion

I think you’ve pretty much covered all the bases then. Hope you have great fun. And I’ll be watching the Super Bowl of America too. I always do

Golf is the only other one but it’s the one sport I think is actually better on TV than live (said having never been to see live golf)

Where’s your money on Sunday? And who’s your team? (If you have one)

How about the British Grand Prix then?

I have been once...I couldn't hear anything for 3 days after though

That’s the point! It is absolutely epic to watch though

I did enjoy the live experience

I know the point has been made ad infinitum on the socials…and I know I am showing my age…but the LeBron all time points record photo with 98% of people trying to capture the occasion on their phone is the epitome of this. Why do people go to so many occasions (sporting, musical, whatever) just to spend more time trying to get it on their phone to put it on their insta, instead of just immersing themselves in the occasion?! I mean, each to their own, you pay for the ticket, you enjoy it how you like, but are you really enjoying it if you’re waiting for that perfect pic to post on your social media?

I completely agree with you on this...I would rather enjoy the football match or pop concert and the whole experience and atmosphere than stare at my phone trying to record it....I must be getting old...

Maybe it is an age / what you grew up with thing. But I was at the MCG for Shane Warner’s 600th wicket, and the people who were taking photos had old school cameras, not phones. Everyone else (English or Aussie) was immersed in the occasion"

RIP Shane Warne....it was a real shock when I heard on the news that he had passed away...he might have been an aussie but he was a cricket legend....
