Just for laughs...

I used to go out with a girl from down South and found it funny that she didn't understand some of the sayings we have up here in the North.

E. G

Bairn - Kid

Ket - Sweets (not the drug as she thought)

Clarts - Mud

Many more.... Just wondering what sayings people have from other parts of the country what would be classed as 'local slang'?

What conversation were you having with her that involved giving muddy kids sweets?

Just generally talking about slang words we use.

A family member said 'there's some money for the bairns to get some ket'

She was horrified, thinking they were giving kids money for drugs
