What is a fair price for milk

I had to just go out in this freezing cold country to a small coop to buy milk. I think the last time was early December and it now costs more for a small one £1.45 than it was for a large one £1.25 at start of December.

Have farmers in the UK put the prices up that much ?

Anyone know what a milkman charges for a pint ?

It's £1.70 per litre or 98p a pint.

I paid the same price at the same store yesterday.

4 pints is £1.75 in my local Tesco at the moment. Used to be a quid!

Think 2 pints is 1.45... so you might as well buy 4!

The whole milk price has always been a contentious issue , supermarkets have never paid what milk costs to produce .

Personally I prefer to by local milk , our cow molly is delicious and only 20 p more than awefull generic supermarket milk ,which always tastes like water to me .

Farmers are only getting paid around 48 pence per litre and that's the highest its been for years. Farmers don't get to decide what price they get to sell their produce at. The large companies tell them what they are getting and they have to take it as there's nowhere else to go. All the companies work together to keep the price as low as possible.

Milk,untill recently,has been in around a quid,for 2 litres, for the last 10 years or so.

Over the past 6-12 months it has risen sharply,I think I paid £1.75 on Monday for a 2 litr jug.

Everything has risen in price and I suppose milk had to too .

I buy 2 x 4 pints a week…

2 shops in my village and it’s £1.89 and £1.99 in the other.

But it’s not the same brand as in Tesco/co op… it’s from local farms.

I prefer paying less obviously so would normally pick one up on my weekly shop although I don’t have a clue how much that costs as I don’t look at the price.

I wish it was £1 again

Here a Milkman charges £1.19 a pint in glass bottles delivered.

And £3.45 for 4 pints in a plastic carton delivered.

I usually buy milk from Spar in the village, for as long as I can remember it's been £1.90 for two 4 pint bottles, but that cost has risen recently to £3.20
