What are the point of winks

I've had quite a few couples leave wink. I generally reply with a polite message after reading their profile.

The message thanks them for their wink mentions what I interests we have in common and would love to have a chat with them.

The messages are read ,then nothing .

So what was the point of winking at me in the first place,,,

A wink is not a guaranteed chat. It's just a preliminary "I like you". That can change after the first message and especially picture, if there is no attraction

I think it's just a misspelling. Should have been an "A" not an "I"

OP - mix it up and try some different tactics. Maybe the next few you get, just wink back and leave it - see whether that makes a difference. Or maybe try a different response.

If one thing doesn’t work then stop using that approach

We wink to show we’re interested, if we get a wink back then we send a well thought out message. Just ages sending lots of messages to people who aren’t interested.

Likewise if we get a wink we assume they’re interested and want to see if we are before messaging.

A wink is not a contract - but it's very nice.

I've accidentally winked people before.

If someone winks and doesn't respond when I wink back, I just assume they have an eye twitch and move on with my life.

Plenty more eyes in the sea.
