"Which one?" • If it's for Åfternoon Teå, then it's Rambo. He had a certain 'je ne sais quoi about him'. He could be quite dainty with a teacup.

"It's Rambo for me, even though we never got much concerning his back story. Something about his pre military life and his family would have been nice." You need to read David Morrell's novel First Blood, on which the film was based. Rambo (he has no first name) is younger in the book, 22/23. The book was published in '72, and Rambo is fresh back from Vietnam. Totally different to the film. Disturbed by his war experiences, once triggered by his arrest, he becomes a ruthless killer. Kills loads of people. I read it when I was about 16, so over thirty years ago, but I recall there was background on his early life and Green Beret training, and what happened to him in Vietnam. But be warned, it will ruin the idea of Rambo as a good guy.

The book is a brilliant read and if I remember right David Morrell wrote Rambo 2 book as well. However it only just beats Rocky 1 & 2 both decent films.

"if I remember right David Morrell wrote Rambo 2 book as well. " Read that too. It's just a crap novelization of the film. But agree the original book was good. Around the time of the film they showed a documentary on BBC about real-life Rambos, Vietnam veterans who were left disturbed by the war and had gotten into trouble back home. All were isolated, some living rough in the woods, another had joined a motorcycle gang. I remember one navy special forces veteran saying he was asleep at home, his mother had come in and shook him to wake him, next thing he knew he'd nearly throttled her to death. He took off that day and had been using his training to live in the woods ever since. I had it on video but it's long gone

"there is a Rambo series coming out , sly is working on producing it and it will be set with a young Rambo in his 20s going into the war/during the war and about his unit .... could be quite interesting when more comes out about it " I'll have to look out for this.

"Which one?" Rocky obviously (except the one that shall never be named!)… plus rocky also spins off into creed… which gets it more points!
