There's previously been threads about cycling. And I thought I'd ask everyone here about climbing!

So who goes climbing, what sort of you do. Let's chat all things climbing!

I (Making) used to climb a lot in the past, mainly trad (ideally on Peak Grit), and indoor walls. I do the odd bit now but I was a thug when I climbed hard so age had taken its toll substantially.

I’ve started to do a bit of bouldering at our local indoor centre. Friendly sport, inclusive and non-competitive (for many). Only the very easy routes!

Mainly do sports climbing and I'm looking to progress into trad this year (hopefully). Although my grade has dropped as I didn't have much time last year.

Say a fab climbing social might be an interesting event

Scottish winter and grit used to be my thing but haven’t climbed for a few years now.

I hate indoor stuff as the routes are all set for smaller people and my height just makes a mockery of any routes. Plus I don’t have any finger strength anymore!

Would like to learn lead climbing

It opens up so much more. It's not that difficult. Just a little more riskier than top roping

We do quite a bit of bouldering, mostly indoors with the occasional venture outside. Very much low/beginner-level though.

I used to enjoy climbing as a kid, I was pretty good, you'd often find me on top of a building or up a tree.

But never climbed as an adult but it's always been something I'd want to try.

There are a huge amount of climbers/boulderers who are also into recreational sex. Thrill seekers tend to flock together and both activities tick that box.

I've bouldered for years, and love a bouldering date - it's an excellent ice breaker before any playdates

This thread has reminded me I need to get back to climbing. It's the one form of exercise that I enjoy, and helps keep the dad-bod at bay

Thread resurrection.

Another climber here, mostly sport and trad. Winter on the rare occasion we get conditions plus a Scotland trip most years. Indoors through the winter to keep in shape.

That said I've done very little this last year and I'm a little way off my best levels of Fr6b+ onsight, 6c redpoint for sport and E3 5c trad.

Been climbing trad and alpine for years but living in the south sucks.

Did my first E1 last summer and hoping to do a big trip away this year for some decent days on rock

I did read an interesting article recently about the rise of gym climbing. The basic premise was that indoor climbing is now quite separate from outdoor climbing, as opposed to the ‘old days’ when you climbed indoors before you couldn’t get out onto the rocks. Personally I would happily swap plastic holds for proper rock in the fresh air.

I do some tree climbing for work, used to be a abseiler on the rigs. Always fancied trying some indoor climbing but never got around to it.
