"Technically I was in the rmr but I know that I'm not in the same league as those gents but I think I helped some of the youth to decide they wanted to do there part and serve in the forces. At the last count it was 2 rm 5 in the army 4 in the ta and 9 in the navy " Army cadet was why I joined fair play

"Can I ask a question to people who have served in the forces.. mainly those who have served in recent wars Iraq Afghanistan .. and please don't be offended.. my best friend was a Royal Marine served two tours .. if there is anyone here who served similar.. how did you feel whilst over there.. did you feel you was fighting a worthy cause.. or did you feel otherwise " Did three stints at Kandahar/Bastion, aircraft tech. Although I didn’t go “in the field” it was still a scary place to be. At times I saw the bad side, but overall it was a good experience to have. It helped that I was working with a good team and we knew we were all in the same shit situation. It does feel pointless now considering that the taliban (or whatever name they’re going under) are back in power so feels like it was pointless in the end

"Was never in the army. But had civilian jobs with the army growing up in Aldershot. Had a good job at the Cambridge military hospital as a porter. Sadly a lot of the barracks are gone now and replaced with housing. So to have the pubs used by so many of the military. " Had my appendix out in there in 84 when I was an apprentice chef at St Omer barracks the old tower block

I used the mess hut across the road from the hospital. 80 pence for a meal and 30 pence for a pudding. The food was amazing. I'm sure St Omar made one of the royal wedding cakes.

I remember the corridor was over a quarter mile long. We use to work with 41 squadron picking up MFO boxes from Liphook and delivering them to the married quarters.
