Scotch Eggs…

London

I once lived in a town for a short time and knew a girl who worked in a Scotch Egg shop. The whole shop was Scotch Eggs. Really great Scotch Eggs. Expensive mad ones which probably had platinum in them (or whatever) all the way down to affordable veggie ones.

The place seemed to do quite well and I was quite a fan despite there being a Greggs bakery nearby where I could get a fine pasty / sausage roll for about £1.

My questions are this; do other Scotch Egg shops exist out there? If so, are they of good quality and are they affordable? Do you have a favourite place where you get your scotch eggs?

Also, if they do exist, is there something which you would change about the Scotch Eggs? For me, it has never been about the egg. In fact, in don't even like eggs very much. So if I had a choice then I would dispense of the egg part of the Scotch Egg and replace it with something with a similar texture. Perhaps mozzarella. Or, at a push, halloumi if heat was to be maintained at all times…

Anyway, what are your thoughts on scotch eggs?

I love a good Scotch egg but never heard of a shop that only sold them. Would have thought that was a very niche market.

Somewhere In The Ether…

I love them but have never personally come across a shop selling them exclusively.

An interesting idea

Dubai & Nottingham

I had one in Sumatra once , blew my head off. It was a hard boiled egg covered in ground chilli paste then deep fried. I’m scared of them now

That's a very specific thing to specialise in.

Never heard of that before.

However, try and find somewhere that does scotch eggs using poached instead of boiled eggs, they're yummy.

I can see why they're a thing. Have enough of them and they could be considered a substantial meal
