"unable to eat a thing this morning."

Were you planning on having chips, peas, gravy, a childsize portion of chips, battered sausage, curry sauce and two can of pop ?

An hour into the thread he said "some of you have come pretty close" so he still had recollection at that time !

No I usually have yoghurt and fruit , poached eggs and coffee but had no appetite due to the suspense. If I ate that stuff I would die

I feel cheated and let down by this whole debacle.

It started like a “who wants to be a millionaire” quiz competition, prizes, free holidays, a home in the sun for the lucky winner who came up with the correct pounds and pence!

We all took part, hearts in our mouths, wondering if we were correct!

And the question master did not know the answer to his own question???

I suspect he is a member of the Tory party… only they could be so cruel !

Maybe he also advised Boris to tell us he would build 40 new hospitals and that we would all be "levelled up"

Are they made from potatoes? Fried potatoes?

How the fuck did we reach the point that a bag of chips is nearly a fiver?

A

That's why now for fish and chips I rather just spend under a fiver at Sainsbury's to get their beer battered cod or haddock fillets and oven-fry it myself. Two in a box.

Bag of McCains chips is £3 for a 1.6kg bag. That's a quid for 500g of chips, equivalent easily if not more than a bag of chips you get from a chippy outside.

Only thing I am salty about is how a jar of Colman's tartar sauce has gone from a pound to £1.50 now.

Cheap and cheerful nonetheless!

All due fairness if it's fish and chips from a seaside town, it's worth a tenner for each meal portion.

The chippies where I'm at, good luck getting fish and chips for a tenner, and most of them certainly aren't worth a tenner much less their prices which are more than a tenner.

Good for you! With inflation the way it is now, if I'm going to be buying expensive fish and chips it better be good.

Make your own...a few capers and a gherkin finely diced (me and the nipper prefer a coarser chop) and a dollop or two of mayo make a perfect addition. I made some yesterday to go with our fishfingers.
