We still use duplicate books for purchase requisitions at work. I think somebody put in a VERY big order in twenty years ago! We have to fill it out on paper, scan it, attach it to an email and send it to purchasing! All because they are decades behind in their IT packages.

Not all are gadgets but

Magic slate ( the name might fool you but I reckon a fair few on here used them)

Zx spectrum here too playing hungry Horace!

Disc cameras - Polaroids have had a resurgence in recent years a month the “youngsters”

Here’s one that will age me - adding machines and dot matrix printers! Bookkeeping jobs using these - painful!

Those of you mentioning rotary phones I highly recommend you find the YouTube video “kids react to rotary phones” it’s hilarious! As are the related videos.

Anyone else can still remember landline phone numbers from 30/40+ years ago? I certainly can. Mainly my grans but also ex fiancés (not surprising considering I must have dialled his number 3/4 times a day for nearly 3 years!)

"Thread too long for me to read through so apologies if suggested already.

My first car:

Wind down windows. A wire you pulled out to allow more fuel to the engine when cold, a radio with about 8 buttons that when you pushed a needle jumped left to right, or vice versa

Double de clutching to change from 3rd to 2nd

No I don't remember having to do that. This was early mid 90s, a Maestro from the previous decade

In the days before synchromesh

Was that the thing under the number plate you had to turn quickly to get the car going?

I've seen it in books "

And cars that had a ch oke you had to manually adjust

That's the wire/cable I was on about. If you wanted a sports car you simply didn't push it back I once the car had warmed up

"Not all are gadgets but

I still remember trying to phone into Swapshop on a saturday morning on a rotary phone but never being successful "

It was 01 811 8055 (not a real number anymore)

On that, remembering people's numbers instead of putting their name into a phone.

Old Dymo machines that produced the bumpy labels.

Someone mentioned a pedal in a car that dipped the headlights. My first car had a rubber bulb on the floor for the screen wash. And it had a manual ch.... can't say that word

Lighting a coal fire first thing in the morning.

Trying to find Dick Barton on Radio Luxembourg using a valve radio at 7:15 in the evening.

TV with one monochrome channel and lots of snow.

Cars with little orange arms which swung up and out of the B post to indicate turns.

Cars without heaters or radios.

Bus conductors with little tickets in clips on a wooden board.

Christmas boxes for the milkman, breadman, postman, coal men, dustmen and paperboy.
