Water, water everywhere

I'm at my family home for the duration and it's right next to a river. I'm looking out of the front bedroom window and it looks like there's a lake out there! I don't think I've ever seen it this high.

Fortunately it's a tidal river so this will pass and the defences are holding.

But I feel for anyone who has already been flooded or who is worriedly watching the water rise and get closer.

The rain should hold off now for the next couple of weeks (with only showers on odd days) giving the land a chance to absorb some.

The SW has been hit really badly with homes flooded, transport disrupted over Christmas and god knows how the farmers are going to manage as the majority of fiels here now resemble lakes!
