Looking to buy a new mattress, any pitfalls to the pocket sprung memory foam jobbies? Particularly from a sex point of view.

Do they hamper the motion as the on screen demonstrations suggest that they might.

I switched to a water mattress 7 years ago. Most comfortable I've been in bed ever. Less moving about in the night. Total support. Temperature controlable.

I used to wake up in the morning aching before I got it. Now I can go to bed with aches and pains and by the morning, they're all gone.

Really, couldn't recommend it enough

I have a Tempur and it's great. I know what you mean about sinking but it's supposed to be like that apparently although it takes some getting used to. But I never get any muscle pain anymore. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to get reacquainted with it

Memory foam mattresses surely remember how you sleep, the one position, so if youre constantly moving what use are they?

I got a kingsize silentnight memory foam mattress which comes with a cooler topping foam thing and I bloody love it and it was about £800 but worth it and sex is good on it as well.

Yep. 2 years in now and love it.

You can buy them refurbished at a fraction of the normal price. I know a lot of people will boak at the thought of a '2nd hand mattress' but they're essentially those returned under the trial period and completely refurbished back to 'as new' quality.

And the pillows are great too......

We got a memory foam and hate it! Replacing it soon as it’s not very comfortable and it makes sex a bit tricky if you’re both in one spot, you end up sinking and it messes up the rhythm

Godalming

We’ve just bought a NOA mattress after reading all the reviews.

It’s quite firm and might be too hot come the summer.

Not afraid to send it back within the 100 days if it doesn’t turn out to be the right thing.

I have Simba but in hindsight would try out Emma. I believe Emma use pockets springs as well as foam whereas Simba use their own type of coil which I’m not sure about. My mattress is never too hot. Hybrid foam I say.

Issue with hybrids imo is that you will always sink into it a little. Definitely had made sex a little fussier regarding holding positions, stability, and the like.

I also have a pure pocket sprung mattress which is great. Adding a nice memory foam topper is perfect. A nice firm mattress!

Overall in my opinion:

Hybrid = Best for sleeping

Pocket sprung = best for sex

P.s

If you get a Simba ask friends to see if you can get a referral. Simba do lots of promos. The NHS discount used to be great too (55% off).

The Emma pillows are the only pillow which truly supports my neck! 3 pieces of foam, one of which you can remove to make it slimmer. I recommend them too!

Thanks so much everyone for your observations, the sinking during sex is definitely a concern for us. But you have given us some food for thought, the hotel mattress sounds great though. Never thought such a simple idea was going to be such a complicated purchase.

Had memory foam pillows which were ok for leaning up reading but no give in them and constantly gave me neck ache.

So scared of a memory mattress.

So I will prob get a cheapo because I zonk out on anything and don't suffer any aches and pains.

So is an expensive mattress a marketing con I tend to think it is
