I’ve found when you meet people from the forums they are sometimes not like their forum persona at all

That can be in both a positive and negative way

People are very much more 'themselves' on the forums.

Personally although more than capable of giving back what I get - I've never become *friends* with someone through banter. Banter (imo) is very superficial and a defence mechanism. I need to peel those layers back hun

I haven't been posting long but I have found myself gravitating towards certain posters

Some i like the way they have with words some are funny and some seem very cute without viewing their profile

Is that normal

Ps I'm not pestering with unsolicited friend requests

I now have 5 friends and all via interaction on tbe forum.

They have contacted me saying I make them laugh

That's a good thing (I hope)

People only let you see what they want you to see. So how they display on the forums may not be how they display in real life, guises and masks are strategies, humour being a classic one used

I’m not like my forum persona at all. Those who have spoken to me privately and the few here who have met me in person can vouch

In general I think people are slightly more themselves on the forum.

That said I am currently noticing some real catfish, liars. Which is a real shame. I have a very good memory and clearly some don’t.

I’m not too different in the flesh, on messaging or on here. I am a little more forward in text perhaps. But I think that is because the written word is my “thing”

I really struggle with my profile text as I’m just awful at trying to “sell” myself, but through the forums I think I’m more able to convey my personality.

I think it’s the interaction which allows that more, for me.

I'm very much myself on here if maybe a little more confident. I'm shyer in real life.

There are people on here who I think I'm more likely to get on with due to their posts on here which is definitely the first step towards playing for me. There are others whose posts have placed them firmly into the "not even with someone else's" category.

There are some people, typically those who use or have used fab for self validation and to farm likes, who are very adept at hiding their true personality on the forum.

However their toxic behaviour and lack of authenticity eventually shows through, and you come to realise what an awful piece of work they have always been!

Some people hide behind a facade. It’s the same anywhere.

In the Forum, it’s possible some let their true nature slip out but they can also try to disguise it behind grinning emojis and posts that backpedal on what they’d posted earlier.

Definitely. The way someone comes across on the forums gives you a taste of their personality. One of my friends in particular is my friend because of his forum posts

I’m friends in the flesh with several forumites, they are as lovely on here and in real life. I’ve only had one disappointing interaction with someone from here but that’s life.

One couple I’m in contact with who haven’t yet met are also great and have very good banter and in can’t wait to meet them (train strikes permitting) - you know who you are
