Off to Munich next weekend for a beer and sausage fest.

Been before but not for years, can anyone recommend good places to eat and drink? And any interesting / unusual things to do.

danke schön

There are soo many places but my favourite place to eat and drink in the city centre is Schneider Weisse. If you want to do the tourist places then the Hofbräuhaus is a must.

Augustiner-Keller is another good place if you want a traditional beer cellar.

For interesting things to do, if you don't mind a trip further afield then a trip to Anchechs monestary is a good one (and has their own brewery). It's easily accessible by s-bahn.

I also feel that every person visiting Munich should make a trip to Dachau concentration camp. This really brings home the atrocities that occured during the holocaust and will always stay with me. Again this is easily accessible by s-bahn.

I absolutely love german food.

I think I'm going to have to make another visit over to Munich this year, has been far too long.

What really informative travel advice you gave. I have not been to Munich in around 50 years - must go back!

Thank you. I could have listed loads of things to do as bavaria is such a beautiful part of the world. I've not been back for about 7 years now and really do need to get back there, I love it so much.

Lingfield

A trip to the Hofbrauhaus is worth it, a bit touristy but full of history. If you are into sport then a trip to the Allianze stadium is worth it, either for a tour or if you are lucky take in a game. Their second tier team play there as well so tickets should be easy to see them, Bayern may be a bit more tricky. Also the Olympic Park and stadium are really interesting to see as well. We went at Xmas for the markets and loved it.

Haven't been to Munich for nearly 20 years (how has that gone so fast - separate thread!), but this thread is a great reminder that I need to go back!!
