Hosiery can be quite expensive but visible snags and ladders look naff.

However, do you think it is ok to wear snagged hold-ups in private that no-one else will see?

I think it is totally acceptable to wear whatever you want in private.

The only problem might be if you need to answer the door and the delivery man has to take a photo of your package

Depends on the occasion,

for dogging/adult theatre/sauna snagged stockings do fine as the men don't really notice unless they are in really bad state.

for normal wear and walk on the street shop then need to be nice. i get most of my stockings on ebay from a TV and they are ok priced and do me just fine for what i do but i do go through a few pairs every month

Yes I do, I also think it's ok if you have boots and a skirt or dress on which hide the snags or ladder.

When I first started wearing tights and stockings they were really expensive. We used to mend ladders with fine thread and put nail varnish each end to stop it running if we didn't have a needle and thread handy. Some people used a single hair to mend ladders.

I think it is totally acceptable to wear whatever you want in private.

The only problem might be if you need to answer the door and the delivery man has to take a photo of your package"

I would be wearing something on top to hide the runs and snags, so not an issue!

I wear a lot of stockings and it is such a shame when I get a run or a snack. If I'm wearing boots and they cover it I'm happy to wear ones with a small snag.

If I'm wearing heels and it would be noticeable I'm much more likely to reach for a new pair.

When I buy them off and buy a few pairs the same and then if I get a snag in one, I still have another 2 or more unworn ones that match.

I think it's more about how I feel then whether anybody else would even look or notice.

Clear nail polish is definitely a top tip for this. I usually buy cheaper multi packs and prefer hold ups, if one gets ruined you have a spare.

Thanks for your feedback Glitterbabe. Yes, if just a little run that can be hidden, when out, that is OK.

And go for idea of multipacks to allow mix and match.

I should have been clearer, it was wearing hold-ups with long runs, so cannot be hidden unless under trousers. So it is more about the personal feel of having them on.

Know about the nail varnish tip but these runs were past that! From toe to top. Multipack is a great idea.

Minx, thanks for feedback. I usually don't keep snagged things. But with the cold spell, I have been wearing the hold-ups under trousers. Snags and ladders not visible but I know they are there.

If they have some snags but they are under your clothes, and only you are aware of the snags, then I don't see any issue whatsoever.

If it brings you pleasure from wearing them and you feel comfortable and that's all you need, I feel.

If they have some snags but they are under your clothes, and only you are aware of the snags, then I don't see any issue whatsoever.

If it brings you pleasure from wearing them and you feel comfortable and that's all you need, I feel."

Thank you Lola and thank you for your feedback. Yes, wearing hold-ups or stockings definitely brings me pleasure and I feel more comfortable (and feminine). No one else can see the snags and runs so, in theory, not an issue. But I know they are there.

Old pair were binned today and lovely new pair put on.

You know I am past giving a shit now. I put on a pair of new tights the other day and they snagged and laddered. I sighed and wore them anyway because I wasn't doing anything fancy other than the school run. So if I was alone it wouldn't be a problem at all to wear less than perfect clothing.
