Punctuation is powerful

An English professor wrote the words

"A woman without her man is nothing" on the chalkboard and asked the students to punctuate it correctly.

All of the males in the class wrote:

"A woman, without her man, is nothing."

All of the females in the class wrote:

"A woman: without her, man is nothing."

Beats "eats, shoots & leaves." as an example of the importance of punctuation.

Ha! These both made me smile

I’m a grammar/punctuation obsessive and I have to make a conscious effort not to correct people.

There's a huge difference between:

Helping your uncle, Jack, off a horse

And

Helping your uncle jack off a horse

Sadly, punctuation has fallen by the wayside.

It was superseded by New-Wavetuation, which was then replaced by New-Romantictuation.

Grammar is indeed context changing.

It’s the difference between knowing your shit and knowing you’re shit.

Dunno, I still like the Panda one. Described quite a few of the "Panda guys" I meet... Pppfffttt...

Except to be grammatically pedantic, that is the wrong use of the ampersand...
