Been a 70s child there was numerous weird kids TV shows, but for me I cannot remember anything more surreal and low budget than Fingermouse.

Awesome definitely belonged to Pitkins with Hartley Hare et Al.

The cartoons were epic. An updated Odyssey set in space called Ulysses 2000 or something. And the utterly majestic Cities of Gold, clocking in at over 96 million episodes.

Oh, and Knightmare! The relish with which Treguard would watch a child (virtually) be sliced into cubes by whirling blades, or tumble off a precipice.

Weird and wonderful fact: the theme "song" lyrics to Defenders of the Earth was written by Stan Lee.

Though the best line in a TV theme has got to be "Why don't you just switch off your television set and go and do something less boring instead?"

Anyone remembering the next line wins a No-Prize.

Can’t believe on a thread started about weird old kids shows the following haven’t been mentioned :

Sapphire and Steele - utterly bizarre surreal show about time travelling sci fi detectives/agents LOVED it!

Will o the wisp with the sublime Kenneth Williams doing voice work

Abercynon-ish

There were a couple of episodes of Dramarama that were utterly messed up and scarred me for life.

One involved a giant mouth that was luring people into this Wierd utopia with a pretty woman and guys in masks on an escalator all looking happy but The 'Mouth' turned out to be this decaying hell scape. Or maybe I was just on too many bad 'e' number sweeties?

Or there was one where a kid's mirror reflection moves on its own and ends up replacing him and the kid gets trapped screaming in the mirror at the end.

Failing that, Moon dial, children of green know, (I was a sensitive child OK?)
