A bin on the street because it hadn't been seperated into recyclable goods, the rubbish is strewn all over street, sea gulls have been involved to and passers by put their little plastic bags of shit in it so they too are strewn all over street, the wheely bins are the large green bins and we have to climb up a steep hill with steps to get to the houses, so the bins are left usually neatly on the pavement at the bottom so all who pass can put rubbish in them, my question is was it fair of the dustmen to do this? Was it ethical in terms of they clear Torquays rubbish but they've littered the place themselves, something that many towns and cities would fine you for and in fact have rubbish police?

They just threw the rubbish all over the place? That is wrong. If they couldn’t handle the bin because it was full of the wrong stuff then they should have just left it.

Absolutely disgraceful. They used to do the same at mine. For about 10 years. Now suddenly they've improved to actually do the job they are paid to do. Not sure what has happened but they can do it if they want to.

I'm far from convinced that having 5 plastic bins to collect rubbish is and five collection rotas per property is terribly eco friendly.

Call your local council and request they come back and clear up the mess they've made?

Our binmen are terrible they throw peoples recycling bins all over the road and behind peoples cars making you routinely checking behind your wheels on bin day.

Where I used to live they were lovely. Always used to leave them bottled water out on sunny days

Exactly as a seaside town we have quite naturally seagulls and seagulls love our waste and at every opportunity (overflowing bins, platic bags, even seagull resistant bags are) pecked to bits leaving the rubbish all over Torquay and other resorts in Devon and Cornwall are an eyesore because of it

The Town by The Cross

Our bin men missed our grey rubbish bin due to roadworks. The next week is brown bin recyclables and I watched them tip the lot... brown and grey into the back of the same lorry.

Seems it's okay not to recycle when they want to save money ( I don't blame the binnies for this they will have been told to )

If the Germans were doing the rubbish collection, it would work and it would be on time and bins would be replaced with mm precision .

Black bag collection in many Welsh councils moving from 2 weekly to 3 weekly collections. Must be a reward for recycling so well.

What a head fuck. Every other week is so easy to keep on top of.

Many years ago when travelling...id been to local parts of Egypt and Sri Lanka and Thailand and others. 3rd world if you will. And one common theme was how degrading the attitude to rubbish was. It was literally thrown outside, out of the hut, on the "street"... It left a lasting memory. Well 40 years on... Large parts of the UK have managed to progress to that level.

Doncaster & Bembridge

Our bin men can be a bit careless! If something falls our if a bin as they are wheeling it to their truck or when the bin is being tipped into the truck they just leave it on the street. We have green boxes for bottles. One bin day it was very windy do as soon as they emptied the bins I went out to bring them back in. The lid for our green box was missing. I asked one of the bin men where it was. His reply "Don't know, it could be half way up the street!" Luckily I found it on next door's garden.

Reminds of a episode of Grand Designs on Channel 4. Somebody was get a prefabricated designer home from a German company.

The German builders arrived on schedule from Germany to this guys home in England with all their prefabricated parts. But the crane which the guy was meant to book locally, to do the unloading, was 2 hours late from a location hal an hour away.

Needless to say the house was finished before schedule.

I just check what my neighbours put out and do the same. Never know when it's "big" bin day
