Well alot brands come from same factory so its finding the good ones

E.g supermarket cola made then line switched to proper cola then switched to supermarket cola as it changed to another type fizzy drink

I am a bit. I am fortunate that my outgoings are pretty low, but I do still shop around. I also try to buy some things at my local village independent shops each week because they're struggling. It's very expensive but I don’t want them to close.

These are they types of businesses being hit most. High end and luxury brands aren’t affected much but middle premium is always at risk in recessions. As businesses they need to move up or down to survive

Never been into brands at all mainly because I was earning minimum wage and had other priorities.

I've bought hiking gear from Lidl and decathlon that is much better quality and lasted me much longer than other stuff I've had to save to buy.

I lost both of my rings less than 3 months after getting married. I lose everything so I’m amazed they lasted that long. Never replaced them or wore a ring for the rest of the time I was married.

If I was to ever get engaged again, I’d be made up with a £1 ring as at least they’re cheap to replace

But with a latex allergy I can't risk runner content in cheap toys, and as a 6ft amazon I can't risk flimsy equipment causing unwanted injury.

So it's more a safety and wellbeing thing than a poppy snobby thing.

I only buy clothing brands if they are on sale with a big discount. Primark and Decathlon are my friends.

Footwear is where I prefer to pay for quality.

I do make stuff last. I have genuine Dr.Martens which are 42 years old and still going strong so they were a cheap buy.

Food wise its basically coffee where I wont compromise and Heinz beans. Thankfully here in Spain fresh produce is relatively cheap and I grow huge amounts of stuff too.

Worked in two different supermarkets there are fair few items that come from same suppliers so lots of own brands make sense as generally cheaper. However I will only buy Yorkshire Teabags as I do love a strong brew

Having worked in various factorys for various products I can safely say there little difference between high end and value range of all supermarkets items bar packaging, sugar and salt (high end normally has shit loads more)..

No they don't, if by proper cola you mean it has its own plant in Wakefield, there might be others not sure. Some supermarkets like Aldi manufacture their own and they all taste very different my personal favourite being Pepsi max, Pepsi have 3 manufacturing sites in the UK.

Embarrassed to admit but yes. Heinz Beans (even more embarrassing)! No other brand will do and to be honest, if the day comes when I can’t afford them. I chucking in the towel and becoming a nomad that lives in a secluded log cabin in the wilderness with my only companion being a husky. Together we reject the rest of the world and live freely away from society lol! Or possible ask for a pay rise depending on which I think of first at the time

With food I'll always try value ranges (how do you know if you don't try?) but sometimes I'd rather do without than buy a much cheaper version because the taste difference is vast.

I can have bargain basement rice crispies but I'd rather have no cereal than own brand corn flakes.

No own brand garlic and herb roule tastes anything like boursin, but I can't taste the difference between Jacobs crackers and own brand ones.

The majority of the time I can't taste any difference, so I will use the value range and save my money for where I notice it.

Home brands are nicer like Lidl's Rosemary thin crackers. Sainsbury's beans - cos in covid bastards were taking the Heinz. Literally.

I stick to what I like, mainly based on quality, not brand as they are not always the best. I do look more in the ingredients and things like, salt, fat, sugar these days than I did previously. Fresh things like fruit and veg, very picky and not content with the tasteless stuff at dome supermarkets. I want my orange juicy and taste and smell as it should be and I also try to cook with fresh ingredients rather than prepared meals as much as I can. I would not pay silly money though if I think something is way over the top

No idea. We buy what we like because we like the flavour/taste/texture.

For decades always used to buy Heinz beans. But tried Branston beans last year and found the difference quite surprising. Less salty. So switched to them now.

Definitely discerning with chocolate however. Avoid Cadbury as much as possible and endure Hotel Chocolate in a pinch. Prefer single estate growers of beans, and small collectives around the world. There are websites where you can order some incredible chocolate you won't find in any shops, and some far surpasses what you might find in a specialist chocolatier.
