If you have done any rope play/Shibari/Kinbaku.

Did you enjoy it and why?

Was it not for you and why?

i enjoy it very much

and this will sound bizarre, but being tied up is so peaceful and freeing to me (despite the juxtaposition this creates!).

NORWAY Wherever I lay my hat

It's a new thing for me. As a bit of a control freak I resisted being restrained in any way. Just posted on the BDSM thread but Shibari is very arousing and erotic

When it comes to kink there are in my books two types of people. Those that role play for various reasons (usually sex) and those that the kink or BDSM completes them. I fall into the latter camp.

I am hugely into Japanese style rope JRS for short) green arrow previous conversations on it.

The shibari/kinbaku divide is a Western thing because with a few exceptions (Hajime Kinoko being one) JRS is not about adornment but is about connection.

I am not a fan of pretty rope for its own sake or for a pretty picture.

I love the history of JRS (Kitan Club, Seiu Ito and the early riggers), and the technical and psychological aspects.

JRS is inherently erotic and sadomasochistic, which either gets toned down or pornified for Western audiences.

My own style is based on ichinawa (one rope tying) leading into the standard harnesses.

You will find me at peer rope Sutton. I will be hitting up Camden rope this weekend, and will be at people of colour rope at Anatomie next week. I also do online courses.

If I go to Kestrels, I have rope.

I practice or read about rope on a daily basis.

I have on other threads listed rope resources.

I incorporate other styles such as Chinese 5 flowers ties, western bedroom bondage and damsel in distress ties.

So, I am kinda into it.

Sounds like you’re trying to rope people in with your experience….

I tried rope play for the first time recently and absolutely loved it....I'm a rope bunny.

I loved the tight feeling of the ropes, the actual fact I was restrained and I really liked seeing the temporary marks afterwards.

I wouldn’t call it rope play but I like tying women up and dominating & fucking them.

I know the single and double column ties, how to choose good rope, I know how to do it safely on wrists etc but not really interested in shibari, suspension etc just basic sexual bondage and photography. Also like steel chains.

Yes it's great. Others have covered almost everything, though it's wise to mention there is a bit of safety stuff people ought to understand before trying it, and also you'll soon find you need a lot more rope than you ever imagined.

Not tried it yet, but Caroline has been invited to model at a photo shoot in early March - very excited!

Its okay, but not my favourite.

I like my partners to be able to move, and while you can have some sadistic rope, its just not as visceral for me.

I do not get the same sense of satisfaction or tactile feedback as I do when beating people.

I don’t want them to be a piñata, I want them to think they can escape!

K and I went to a rope workshop together which was a lot of fun. She already has experience with being tied and I wanted to get a bit of knowledge for her. The thing I enjoyed most about it was the effect it had on her and how much she enjoyed the act of being tied

I used to date a dominatrix who was good at shibari. It's hot.

The time it takes to be tied up and then being restrained in beautiful looking rope bondage is a great experience. Then obviously the bondage pegging was nice too.

surrounded by twinkly lights

I went to my local rope jam and watched and tried various styles of tying before settling on my enjoyment pathway, which is dominating sensual erotic rope binding with cotton rope.

Although I love the art styles of tying shibari, the threading though to get to a particular knot just didn't fit in with my bdsm personality
