No - not that spam. We all know it's short for 'spiced ham' and probably contains all manner of 'meat' amongst other things.

Your emails.

Just done my daily delete and in amongst all the usual abundance of penile enlargement creams, Ukrainian brides, money from Nigerian princes and offers from various lawyers to get me claims for all sorts of mis-selling of products I've never purchased.....apparently I've today won a golf cart!

Now I don't play golf but can see myself driving around the village in one and 'walking the dogs' without using my legs.

If only it was genuine.

Any gems in your boxes folks?

From Google!

"1993 First use of the term spam was for a post from USENET by Richard Depew to news. admin. policy, which was the result of a bug in a software program that caused 200 messages to go out to the news group. The term “spam” itself was thought to have come from the spam skit by Monty Python's Flying Circus."

I appreciate this info, quite interesting indeed, although I'm still astounded at the first part of your OP..

After a quick glance at my spam folder though -

I have quite a few messages reminding me about 3.2 BTC awaiting in an account I didn't know about.

Some "Russian Beauties" that are looking to be married.

Parcels that haven't been delivered and needing my details.

Yay! As well as a golf cart I've also won an air fryer!

On a roll today.

Lots of American shops trying to tell me I've won competitions I haven't entered. Annoyingly my amount of spam has skyrocketed for absolutely no reason, and the filters aren't even picking it up so I have to manually mark it

I looked in the spam box once around ten years ago at a guess. There was around 40,000 unopened, I’ve never been back in.

Large numbers scare me.
