... to cancel my camping trip.

It is chucking down at present, with not much hope for dry or good weather in the next few days.

I can stand the cold, however, I do not like it wet, windy and cold.

The dog will thank me I am sure for cancelling the trip, as he hates being in the rain.

Nevermind.

Roll on Easter!

I would have gone if it was dry. Don't like setting up when it is pouring with rain.

camping in the rain is a test of character.

if its like a indian monsoon then a boat would be better.

Thought it was a bit ambitious this time of year but know the cold doesn't bother you. Good to hear you made the right choice. Were you going far?

Nope, just 6 miles down the road from home, as it enables me to pop back to feed the cat! She too will be happier as it means she can stay indoors rather than being outside in the rain!

for safety reasons camping may not be a wise thing to do.

slips,trips and falls etc

I camped in Feb this year and had snow, and it was lovely.

It was very slippery and hazardous when I went walking with the dog. However, we managed and had a great time.

Rain is a different beast altogether.

I shall have some yummy food in the next few days, bought in readiness for the trip, so no shortage of food and drink in the house for certain.

I shall go to work on Monday and join in the fun as it will be extremely busy.

However, I am likely to keep Wed 02 Jan off as planned.

Sites where I stay don't usually have queues in the bathroom except at very busy times.

.

My lounge is not long enough for the tent even if I clear it out completely!

always a worry slips and trips.

the slightest fall and you can have some serious injuries.

possibly made the correct call not to go.

If I were to worry about trips and falls, I would not have gone out anywhere with the dog when there is a hint of moisture in the air.

Don't like being wet and damp myself, and the dog hates it too.

Make a bed tent .... used to be fun when I was a kid, bound to be as much fun if not more now.

I don't mind if it rains once I'm pitched but pitching and striking camp in rain and wind is miserable.

I did just treat myself to a new tent in the sales (one I can stand up in) so at some point over the next few days I'll have to pitch it indoors to make sure all the bits are there.

Its not so much the getting wet at the time but the cleaning and drying of the gear afterwards especially at this time of year.

You need some kind of boiler room with a large internal washing line or similar otherwise you can wreck the stuff in one trip.

Clothing is fine and dries by the conventional methods but hanging a tent?

It seems that Davina McCall is a hardier soul than you Pearl. I just saw a TV ad where she was promoting her DVD. called Intents. Looks like some kind of New Year camping extravaganza
