We are going to a party in a few weeks and the theme is Hollywood Glam. Just wondered if anyone knows of any websites or shops I might be able to find something suitable. I am thinking maxi dress possibly black or red but open to suggestions as I have no idea what to wear. Don’t want anything expensive as I won’t be able to wear it afterwards to do the school run or night shifts lol. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated although I know it’s not easy when I don’t even know what I am looking for.

I once visited a thrift shop in Palm Springs which got all the wardrobe overflows from genuine Hollywood starlets (they retire to Palm Springs for the climate). For between $20 to $50 each I could have had absolutely amazing glamorous dresses that had been used in movies or at the Oscars. Unfortunately (a) I was travelling incognito in male identity, and (b) no room in my case for any of the really nice ball gowns...

Sites like pretty little thing, boohoo etc will all be doing maxi dresses and plenty on sale too now party season is over.

East Sussex

Look for a close fitting long dress in satin, add a faux fur wrap and diamanté jewellery. Elbow length gloves would complete the look
