Secret hideaway in the pennines

The price of vinyl records.

Yet another victim of Brexit, according to the guy in HMV. 99% of all albums are pressed in the EU as we don't have the facilities to do it in the UK anymore

I bought 3 albums yesterday and it cost me just shy of £100,

Probably doesn't help that artists make bugger all from streaming services and record sales are so low, to make any money they need to sell at rediulous prices?

You'd be insane to get a record deal now. 360 deals are now the norm or you can go try impressive Simon bloody Cowell and his various cronies and get a jolly good arse shafting!

I buy mine in Charity shops. Its hit and miss a lot of the time, but you can pick up some brilliant records for next to nothing.

Depending where the charity shop is, depends on what sort of music you can get.

Obviously, they arent brand new, but they can still be in very good condition

London

I remember when new release singles were 50p, and LPs were £2. Singles stayed under a pound until the start of the 80s.

by the big field

If you collect vinyl (and music in general) have a look at websites like Townsend Music and get on their mailing list. Lots of special editions and reissues on high density or coloured vinyl In limited runs - usually round the £20-25 mark

There’s only a small amount of factories in the world. (Maybe 3). 1 is in the Ukraine.

A new factory opened in Middlesborough last year with the sole purpose of pressing Vinyl, the company operating this factory are Press On Vinyl and they have the capacity to produce 50000 discs a month. can be found at pressonvinyl.com, hopefully this will be of benefit to the U.K. music industry.

Loads of vinyl is pressed in UK and it's been repackaged as a premium product around £20-25 for a few years now. Unlikely to be anything to do with Brexit.

Nothing to do with brexit. That’s how much vinyl costs now - they are seeing a revival in popularity as collectors items, so record labels have pushed the prices up.

They’re seen as “special edition” (and often are) so buyers will pay whatever. For example the new Lana album starts at £38 on vinyl and goes up to around £70 depending which version you buy. This is true no matter which country you’re in.

by the seaside

As a rare vinyl collector I've always been used to paying £30+ so to be honest haven't noticed much difference post Brexit. I use Esprit in Kent (they have a large advert in Record Collector magazine) for most of my rare purchases or by attending V.I.P. record fairs as there are always good finds to be had at those
